Blas Castaño (pectoral) started a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.
Castaño has been sidelined since June 18 due to a right pectoral strain. He’s going to require at least a couple of outings in a minor league setting before he’s ready to return to the Rockies’ bullpen. Barring any setbacks, he should be back at some point next week. Before being shelved, the 27-year-old hurler posted a 3.92 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and a 17/6 K/BB ratio over 20 2/3 innings.
