Kohl Drake gave up two runs in four innings and got a no-decision in the Diamondbacks’ 12-8 victory over the Guardians on Saturday.

Drake gave up five hits, walked one and struck out six. Making just his third major league start, Drake was solid in his four innings. He allowed two runs, but struck out six batters. Drake isn’t quite a recommended fantasy starter, but this was a step in the right direction. He’s lined up to face the Padres at home on Thursday.

Drake earns a ticket back to the minors after allowing five runs over four innings against the Giants on Friday night. The 26-year-old lefty has struggled to an inflated 6.53 ERA across 20 2/3 innings over five starts for Arizona this season. He’s one of the organization’s better pitching prospects, but he might not be ready to have an impact at the highest level.

Drake was called up to start Friday’s tilt against the Giants, and while he didn’t take a loss, it’s not because he was effective. The 26-year-old allowed a pair of homers, and while he did strike out five against just one walk, the damage was done. The 26-year-old has not pitched effectively in his chances to start with Arizona, and while there’s reason for long-term optimism, there isn’t much reason to trust him as a fantasy hurler for the rest of 2026 even if he gets more opportunities.

The 24-year-old rookie right-hander allowed 11 runs on 20 hits with a 12/7 K/BB ratio across 17 2/3 innings over four starts for the Diamondbacks earlier this season. Soroka, who is 8-4 with a 3.40 ERA in 18 starts this season, is down again after giving up six runs last night in his third start back from a glute strain. Kohl Drake could come back up to replace him on Thursday.
  • AZ Starting Pitcher #58
Drake threw 82 pitches over 3 2/3 innings of ineffective baseball against the Padres on Thursday, giving up three runs on six hits. They’ll figure out how to replace his spot in the rotation the next time that it comes around while adding a fresh arm to their bullpen in the meantime on Friday in Kade Strowd.

It could have been even worse, considering Drake had long flies of 408 and 403 feet turned into outs. Drake allowed one run in five innings against the A’s in his major league debut last month, but his three turns since have seen him pitch a total of 11 2/3 innings and give up nine runs. He might be replaced next time through if the D-backs decide Michael Soroka is ready to come off the IL. If not, he’ll have a chance to impress at home against the Rockies.
  • AZ Starting Pitcher #58
Drake struck out one, walked two, and allowed two homers as Arizona went on to lose 10-7. He was making his second start with the big-league club this season, a tough assignment against the highest-scoring lineup in the league and on the road. Drake struggled at Triple-A this spring and is off the fantasy radar ahead of his next start in Cleveland.
  • AZ Starting Pitcher #58
Drake was impressive in his MLB debut on Tuesday. He tossed two scoreless innings, then gave up one run on two hits in the third. The 26-year-old right-hander gave the Diamondbacks two more scoreless frames, giving up just the one run over five while collecting five strikeouts. Drake will look to follow the impressive outing in a road start against the Nationals on Sunday.

Drake will make his major-league debut with a start against the Athletics on Tuesday at Chase Field. The 26-year-old lefty was up briefly last month, but didn’t get into a game for Arizona. He doesn’t offer a ton of strikeout upside, which makes him a risky streaming option for fantasy managers right out of the gate.

Shohei Ohtani is hitting cleanup against the Braves in Game 4 of the NLDS on Wednesday.

Ohtani has gone 2-for-10 during the first three games of the best-of-five showdown against Atlanta and simply hasn’t looked like his usual self since returning from a late-season stint on the injured list to address lingering knee and back issues. There don’t appear to be any plans for the Dodgers to consider giving him any time off this postseason, despite his ongoing struggles at the dish.

Michael Harris II will lead off and play center field on Wednesday against the Dodgers in Game 4 of the NLDS.

Either Drake Baldwin or Ronald Acuna Jr. has led off every postseason game so far, and Harris II has only led off 15 games all season for the Braves. Yet, the 25-year-old has been arguably the team’s best hitter in the playoffs, going 9-for-24 in six games with three extra-base hits, including a home run, four runs scored and four RBI. The Braves will hope he can provide a spark and stave off elimination. Baldwin will move down to fifth for Game 4.

Enrique Hernández will start at second base and bat eighth against the Braves in Game 4 of the NLDS.

Hernández hit a massive home run against Chris Sale in Game 3 and will be rewarded with another start. Tommy Edman will head to the bench for the second straight game.

Ronald Acuña Jr. is starting in right field and batting second in Game 4 of the NLDS against the Dodgers.

There were some rumblings after Game 3 that Acuña Jr. would have to DH again in Game 4 due to soreness in his right knee. However, he had an MRI after the game, which apparently cleared him to be able to return to the field. With Acuña Jr. in the outfield, Sean Murphy will catch and bat ninth, and Drake Baldwin will DH. Mike Yastrzemski will also re-enter the lineup in left field with Ha-Seong Kim heading back to the bench.

Robert Gasser will start Game 4 of the NLDS against the Braves.

Gasser has not yet pitched this postseason. The left-hander had a 3.87 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 103/35 K/BB ratio in 190 1/3 innings for the Brewers this season. His last two outings were six and seven innings, respectively, so there is not likely to be a pitch count on him, but the Brewers will also happily go to their bullpen early if they feel it’s the right move.

Steven Kwan is starting in center field and batting leadoff in Game 3 of the ALDS against the White Sox.

Kwan has gone 1-for-7 so far this series with one walk and one run scored. The Guardians have used Travis Bazzana as a leadoff hitter at times during the season, but Kwan is continuing to make lots of contact, so Cleveland will keep slotting him at the top of the lineup and hope that contact turns to hits on Wednesday. The entire Guardians lineup remains the same as Game 2 on Monday.

Aaron Gleeman reports that former Twins general manager Derek Falvey turned down an interview request for the Athletics’ general manager job.

The A’s are prepping for their pending move to Las Vegas and looking for someone to guide the ship when they open their indoor stadium in 2028. So far, Ken Rosenthal and Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reported that Philadelphia Phillies president of business operations Sam Fuld and Chicago Cubs assistant general manager Jared Banner are among the names being discussed. There are additional reports that Milwaukee Brewers assistant general manager Matt Kleine and Boston Red Sox assistant general manager Taylor Smith are also involved in the process, but it appears Falvey has taken himself out of consideration. A decision is expected to be made this week.

Sam Antonacci is starting at DH and batting leadoff in Game 3 of the ALDS against the Guardians.

What makes this interesting is that the Guardians are starting right-hander Daniel Espino as the opener for left-hander Foster Griffin. Antonacci usually doesn’t play against lefties, and his being the DH means that the White Sox have more flexibility to pinch-hit for him. There’s a chance that he gets his at-bat in the first inning and then, when his spot in the order comes up again, he could be replaced by Tommy Pham or Brenton Doyle, both of whom started in Game 1, to hit against the left-handed Griffin.

Andrew Benintendi is not in the lineup for Game 3 of the ALDS against the Guardians.

The Guardians are starting Daniel Espino as an opener, but Foster Griffin, who is a left-handed pitcher, will follow him, so the White Sox will bench the left-handed-hitting Benintendi for Randal Grichuk. Chase Meidroth will move up in the batting order and hit fifth, while Grichuk starts in left field and bats eighth, which makes it likely his first at-bat will not be against the right-handed Espino.

Walker Buehler will start for the Padres in Game 4 of the NLDS against the Brewers.

Buehler posted a 4.63 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and 131/57 K/BB ratio in 153 2/3 innings for the Padres this season. He was better in the second half, registering a 3.62 ERA across 64 2/3 innings, and he has a good track record of postseason success with a 3.04 ERA and nearly 30 percent strikeout rate in 94 2/3 innings. The Padres will hope for another postseason gem from the 32-year-old.
