Astros finalize Daulton Varsho trade

It’s the first MLB save of Hoppe’s career. The 27-year-old was the top prospect acquired in the deal that sent Taylor Ward to Seattle, and while he will need to make considerable improvements in his command to reach that level, he has the stuff to someday be a high-leverage option, maybe even a closer.

The 6-foot-4 starter also allowed only three hits while striking out six in an outing that showed why Lopez would be so intriguing if he threw more consistent strikes. He’ll look to continue to lower his 4.82 ERA against the Rangers next week in Texas.

Young scattered five hits allowed, and he walked just one while striking out four. The 28-year-old has been one of the true bright spots for Baltimore in 2026, and even though the Baltimore bullpen prevented him from picking up a win — the Orioles did get the victory in extras — he did lower his ERA to 3.38 over his 130 1/3 frames of work. He will look to keep up the good run next week, but it’s worth noting that next start comes in Colorado against the Rockies.

Joyce isn’t charged with the blown save, if you’re looking for a positive, because he came in to pitch in the eighth, and all three runs were charged to him after he exited the game. So instead, he gets a loss and a hold. Weird sport. Joyce didn’t give up a hit, but he walked a pair and hit another with all three runners crossing on a grand slam by Edmundo Sosa allowed by Peralta. Joyce should continue to get save looks — the few the Angels will provide, anyway — but there’s just a lot of volatility in his profile because of his command problems.

With the Phillies trailing 3-1 and the bases loaded, Sosa changed the story of the contest by taking Sammy Peralta deep to give Philadelphia the lead and ultimately the victory. The 30-year-old has gone deep just six times in 2026, but none bigger than this one. Sosa remains a versatile option for the Phillies’ bench who provides little to know fantasy upside at this stage of his career.

Jhoan Duran didn’t pitch Friday, which is curious after the Phillies had an off-day Thursday. It’s the second save for Bowlan of the season, and it lowers his ERA to 2.77 on the season. If Duran has something going on, Bowlan could see more chances, but obviously fantasy managers would need more clarity before considering a roster addition.

Detmers looked like he was on his way to picking up a win, but the Angels’ bullpen put a stop to that. It was far from a dominant effort with the left-hander allowing eight hits and striking out just a pair, but it was another effective one that lowered his ERA on the campaign to 3.54. Very little has gone right for the Halos in 2026, but the conversion of Detmers back to a starting role is one of them. He’s set to face the Pirates next weekend.
