Cedric Mullins is not in the Rays’ starting lineup for Friday night’s soiree against the Mariners in Seattle.

There haven’t been any rumblings of any sort of injury, so it looks to be just a routine night off for the 31-year-old outfielder. Jonny DeLuca will start in his place in center field and will bat sixth for the Rays against Logan Gilbert and the Mariners on Friday evening at T-Mobile Park.

Jonny DeLuca finished 3-for-5 with two doubles and a steal against the A’s on Wednesday.

DeLuca mostly plays against lefties, but he got a start with Chandler Simpson resting today. He actually has a better OPS against righties than lefties this year (.776 to .731), but the Rays haven’t truly bought in. If typical form holds, he’ll start against the one lefty and probably one of the three righties the Orioles throw in their upcoming four-game series.

Simpson, 25, will get a day off for the series finale against the A’s. Jonny DeLuca will hit sixth and play left field while Simpson rests.

Cedric Mullins hit a go-ahead homer in the bottom of the eighth to propel the Rays to a 3-2 win against the Rangers on Thursday.

A bit of a cheap dinger, Mullins’ homer down the left field line would have gone out of only seven parks and it barely cleared a short porch in Tropicana Field. Mullins has been a rough fantasy proposition, as to get 13 homers and 16 stolen bases, fantasy managers have had to swallow a .202/.279/.356 line. He retains a little deep-league value based on how high he often hits in the order, but that’s about all.

Cedric Mullins went 1-for-3 and drove in the Rays’ lone run as they eked out a one-run victory over the Guardians on Sunday afternoon at Tropicana Field.

Mullins strolled to the dish in the fifth inning with the game knotted in a scoreless tie and Chandler Simpson at third base with only one out. He dropped down a safety squeeze down the first base line that plated the run and turned into a single, giving Drew Rasmussen and company all of the run support that they would require. The 31-year-old outfielder is slashing .203/.282/.352 with 12 homers, 33 RBI and 16 stolen bases (in 23 attempts) through his first 354 plate appearances with the Rays.

Victor Mesa Jr. is on the bench for Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays.

Mesa won’t get a chance to face Blue Jays veteran righty Kevin Gausman despite homering in each of his previous three contests. The 24-year-old has been scorching-hot at the dish and there’s plenty of underlying date, including a near-40 percent hard-hit rate, that suggests he can keep hitting for power. It’ll be Jonny DeLuca patrolling right field at the outset of Tuesday’s game in Toronto.

Jonny DeLuca homered and doubled versus the Red Sox on Saturday.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t add to the nice day in the ninth, when he grounded out against Aroldis Chapman with the tying run on third and the go-ahead run at second to end the game. The homer off Ryan Watson was hit sixth in 189 plate appearances. He is batting .258/.294/.438 while starting against all lefties and a bit less than half of the time versus righties.

Jonny DeLuca is starting in right field and batting fifth against the Yankees on Monday.

Over the last three weeks, DeLuca has gone 9-for-33 (.273) with three home runs, six RBI, and three steals in 12 games. He continues to play less often than Victor Mesa Jr., which has limited his fantasy upside. However, if DeLuca were to get more playing time, he could be firmly on the radar in deeper formats.

Jonny DeLuca went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and two steals against the Astros on Saturday.

DeLuca drove in a run in the third inning on a base hit and stole second on a double-steal. He then reached on a groundout in the fifth and swiped second for his second steal of the game. DeLuca later took Cristian Javier deep for a solo homer in the seventh. The 27-year-old outfielder has been getting sporadic playing time, hitting .265/.306/.450 with five homers, 25 RBI, and nine steals across 162 plate appearances.

Cedric Mullins went 2-for-4 and clobbered a two-run homer on Thursday night, helping to power the Rays to a 5-2 victory over the Royals in Kansas City.

Mullins singled off of Randy Dobnak in the third inning but the Rays couldn’t bring him home. He then got to him for a 385-foot (96.9-mph EV) two-out, two-run blast in the fifth inning that extended the Rays’ lead to 5-1. The 31-year-old outfielder has now homered in three straight games — and four of his last five. For the season, he’s slashing .217/.294/.361 with 10 homers, 29 RBI and 13 stolen bases (in 19 attempts).

Cedric Mullins went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI versus the Royals on Wednesday.

Mullins has three homers in four games and six over the last month after hitting three through the end of May. Between his struggles hitting for average and his platoon status, he remains a tough play in mixed leagues. However, nine homers and 13 steals at the midpoint is pretty good.

Tests prior to Saturday’s game must not have gone very well. Guerrero was hurt on a play at third base Friday night against the Yankees. Rather than give Sean Keys another look, the Jays summoned Daz Cameron to replace Guerrero. Charles McAdoo is playing first base today, and Kazuma Okamoto will probably slide over there on occasion.

Estrada loses his 40-man roster spot one day after being sent down by the Blue Jays. He’s posted a 5.54 ERA over 13 innings in eight relief appearances for Toronto this year. The 27-year-old wouldn’t seem to have a high ceiling out of the pen, but given that he makes the minimum, can eat innings and has options, there’s a good chance someone will pick him up off waivers.
