Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said William Kempner will undergo season-ending elbow surgery.
It’s a tough break for the rookie reliever after he posted a strong 2.92 ERA and 14/2 K/BB ratio across 12 1/3 innings during his first taste of the majors this season. It’s unclear what type of procedure Kempner will require, which will determine how much time he ultimately misses next year.
