Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (head) is not in the starting lineup for Saturday’s game against the Yankees.

Guerrero Jr. is currently gong through the concussion protocol, and it’s worth noting that Daz Cameron reportedly has a locker. For now, the 27-year-old is just out of Saturday’s lineup, but fantasy managers should be prepared for a potential stint on the seven-day IL. In the meantime, Charles McAdoo will hit ninth and handle first base duties.

Matt Chapman said he’ll be rehabbing for 8-10 weeks following Tuesday’s season-ending core muscle surgery.

Chapman said he originally tore muscle off the bone in two places back in April and played through it for months before going on the IL at the beginning of July. He hit .235/.324/.368 in 84 games before being shut down.

Aaron Judge started throwing Friday for the first time since going on the IL with a rib fracture.

It’s a start. Judge, who last took the field May 31 against the A’s, has yet to resume swinging a bat, so it’s safe to rule out an August return here.

Drew Gilbert, who hadn’t previously batted higher than sixth this season, is in the leadoff spot for Saturday’s game against the Rockies.

Gilbert has done fine work against righties, hitting .265/.357/.409 in 250 plate appearances, so he probably makes as much sense as anyone else on the Giants roster as the leadoff man against them. Jung Hoo Lee, who had been filling that spot recently, is batting cleanup today.

Hunter Goodman is back catching Saturday after missing Friday’s game with left shoulder inflammation.

No need to DH him, apparently, given that it’s his non-throwing shoulder that’s bothering him. He’s batting cleanup against the Giants today.

Blue Jays placed 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on the seven-day concussion injured list.

Tests prior to Saturday’s game must not have gone very well. Guerrero was hurt on a play at third base Friday night against the Yankees. Rather than give Sean Keys another look, the Jays summoned Daz Cameron to replace Guerrero. Charles McAdoo is playing first base today, and Kazuma Okamoto will probably slide over there on occasion.

Blue Jays selected the contract of OF Daz Cameron from Triple-A Buffalo.

Cameron, who opened this season in Korea, had hit .367/.462/.582 with three homers in 23 games since joining Triple-A Buffalo last month. He should get starts against left-handers while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is absent.

Blue Jays designated RHP Lazaro Estrada for assignment.

Estrada loses his 40-man roster spot one day after being sent down by the Blue Jays. He’s posted a 5.54 ERA over 13 innings in eight relief appearances for Toronto this year. The 27-year-old wouldn’t seem to have a high ceiling out of the pen, but given that he makes the minimum, can eat innings and has options, there’s a good chance someone will pick him up off waivers.

Max Clark is out of the Tigers lineup Saturday for the first time since being called up.

Clark had started 13 straight games, including the last three against southpaws. The Tigers, though, are sitting him versus Anthony Kay today, which gives Corey Julks a start in the outfield.

Kevin McGonigle is batting cleanup Saturday for the first time in his career.

It’s the Tigers’ fourth straight game against a left-hander today. McGonigle, still almost assuredly the Tigers’ leadoff man against right-handers, had hit third the previous three games, He’s batting .241/.322/.338 versus lefties, compared to .304/.416/.461 against righties.

Blue Jays optioned RHP Chase Lee to Triple-A Buffalo.

Lee, 28, is sent down to make room for Rickey Tiedemann. The right-hander will likely get another shot with Toronto before the season concludes with rosters expanding in a few weeks.
