Henry Bolte went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and a double Saturday against the Rangers.

Bolte’s homer off MacKenzie Gore gave the A’s all of their runs this evening. He’s back up to .261/.334/.368, which certainly isn’t great but is still impressive for someone who strikes out or hits grounders two-thirds of the time.

Willson Contreras is not in the Red Sox’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Pirates.

It appears to be nothing more than a routine day off for the 34-year-old slugger. Nick Sogard will man first base in his absence while Anthony Seigler starts at second base and will bat eighth against Pirates’ right-hander Luke Bachar.

Victor Mesa Jr. (hamstring) was once again held out of the Rays’ starting lineup for Sunday’s battle against the Orioles.

Tigers selected the contract of OF Tyler Callahan from Triple-A Toledo.

It’s the first trip to the big leagues for the 24-year-old outfielder. Callahan, a 13th round selection from the 2023 draft class, has slashed .269/.365/.443 with 13 homers, 56 RBI, 29 stolen bases and a 94/46 K/BB ratio over 416 plate appearances between Triple-A Toledo and Double-A Erie this season. He’ll help to provide depth in the Tigers’ outfield while they’re dealing with a plethora of injuries.

The 28-year-old outfielder went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in two games with the Tigers this season. It seems likely that he’ll pass through waivers unclaimed and continue to function as extra outfield depth at Triple-A Toledo.
