Jake Irvin took the loss on Sunday against the Mets, allowing four earned runs on eight hits and three walks over six innings pitched.
Irvin struck out six but didn’t pitch well enough to win. He now has a 5.80 ERA on the season. While Washington has turned its franchise around offensively, there’s still work to do on the rotation. The 29-year-old made 33 starts in back-to-back seasons entering 2026, but he’s unlikely to be part of the team’s future plans. He’s lined up for a road game in Miami next time out.
