Making his first big-league start, Kent Emanuel surrendered two runs over five innings to take a loss to the Cardinals in the first game of Monday’s doubleheader.
It was a solid effort from the 34-year-old Emanuel, whose previous major league experience consisted of 10 relief appearances with the Astros in 2021 and 12 with the Marlins in 2024. He wasn’t designated the 27th man for the doubleheader — that was Zach McCambley — but he still might be optioned out now if the Reds want to activate Tony Santillan from the IL.
