Nolan Arenado (abdomen) is not in the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Red Sox.

Ketel Marte’s failure to show up to Fenway Park led to Arizona not putting out a lineup until roughly 10 minutes before first pitch. Arenado takes a seat with Jose Fernandez getting an opportunity at the hot corner. There’s a chance he’ll require a trip to the injured list, depending on the results of an MRI on his injured abdomen. There should be a clearer idea of his status at some point soon.

Diamondbacks recalled INF Jose Fernandez from Triple-A Reno.

Fernandez receives the call to rejoin Arizona’s infield mix with franchise cornerstone Ketel Marte landing on the restricted list. The 22-year-old rookie hit .255 with three homers and seven steals across 177 plate appearances for the Diamondbacks before being shipped back to the minors in early June.

Nolan Arenado believes he strained his intercostal muscle Sunday and will undergo an MRI.

The D-backs could give Jose Fernandez another look if Arenado goes on the IL. Tim Tawa could also play third base, opening up some extra at-bats for Tyler Locklear. Jordan Lawlar is about ready to come off the IL, too, but since he’s only played outfield this year, Arenado’s injury probably doesn’t do anything for him.

Nolan Arenado went 2-for-4 with a walk, two home runs, three runs scored and four RBI against the Braves on Saturday.

Arenado now has 20 home runs this season. It’s the ninth time in his career that he’s hit at least 20 home runs in a season. The last time he hit at least 20 home runs was in 2023, when he hit 26 for the Cardinals. Arenado is hitting .243 with a .768 OPS and 62 RBI this year.

Nolan Arenado went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a grand slam against the Rockies on Monday.

Arenado’s home run was his 18th of the year. He hit a grand slam off Gabriel Hughes in the first inning. Arenado has found his power stroke with four home runs in nine games in August so far. He’s hitting .242 with a .755 OPS and 58 RBI this year.

Ketel Marte is out of the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Padres.

Marte takes a seat with Ildemaro Vargas covering second base. Nolan Arenado is also getting a breather with Tim Tawa at the hot corner. The 32-year-old has hit a rough patch recently, hitting .200 (14-for-70) with two homers and eight RBI in 17 games since last month’s All-Star break.

Arenado’s only hit of the game put the D-backs on the board with a two-run homer off Germán Márquez in the seventh inning to break the shutout. It was the 16th home run of the season for the 35-year-old third baseman. He’s on pace for his best power output since 2023. Arenado is hitting .244/.325/.428 with 53 runs scored and 53 RBI across 418 plate appearances.

Nolan Arenado is not in Arizona’s starting lineup for Thursday’s game against the Cardinals.

Arenado will get a breather after starting each of the first six games for the Diamondback out of the break. He’s hitting .245/.323/.430 this year and .259/.348/.586 in 16 games in July. Ildemaro Vargas is starting at third base.

Nolan Arenado doubled Monday against the A’s for his 2,000th career major league hit.

Arenado is the sixth active major leaguer and 299th player all-time to reach 2,000 hits. He’s a bit higher on the career list with his 424 doubles. He moved out of a tie with Willie Stargell and Victor Martínez in that category tonight and is now tied with Chili Davis and Raul Ibañez for 155th place.

Nolan Arenado hit a two-run homer in the eighth as the Diamondbacks came back from a 7-0 deficit to top the Cardinals 8-7 in 10 innings on Sunday.

The D-backs scored three times in the sixth and twice in the seventh before Arenado’s homer tied the game in the eighth. They went on to win on Max Kepler’s single in the bottom of the 10th. Arenado has four extra-base hits and six RBI in his six games against his previous organization this year. The homer was his 13th in 93 games, overtaking his total of 12 in his 107 games with St. Louis last year.

It was his first rehab game since being placed on the injured list nearly a month ago with an adductor strain. The outfielder didn’t have any success, but the important thing for the 32-year-old was that he was able to get back on the field. He should e an option for the D-backs before the end of the month, if there are no setbacks, of course.

Kelly surrendered seven hits with just four hard-hit balls allowed, which seems like awful luck. Still, when your strikeout rate is just 15 percent, you’re going to have bad luck sometimes. Kelly is 8-11 with a 5.37 ERA, and things don’t figure to get any easier against the Cubs next week.
