Braden Montgomery doubles in two against Cubs

In the fourth inning, Suagno walked Randy Arozarena and then saw Arozarena come around to score on a Dominic Canzone single. That was the extent of the damage he allowed all day. He did throw just 60 percent of his pitches for strikes, but he posted a 15 percent swinging strike rate, thanks, mostly, to his splitter, which he also didn’t use often. Sugano will make one more start next week against the White Sox and is a desperation streamer in deeper formats.

Anderson allowed just three hits and didn’t walk a batter while throwing 73 percent of his pitches for strikes. He also collected 14 whiffs for a 17 percent swinging strike rate and 30 percent CSW. The four-seam fastball vertical movement wasn’t there again, but this start was in Coors Field, so we’ll give Anderson a bit of grace there. His changeup and curve missed plenty of bats, which led to the vast majority of strikeouts. Anderson will look to end the season on a high note against the Angels next week.

Crawford broke the game open with a bases-loaded triple in the eighth inning to give the Phillies a 7-2 cushion. The rookie now has 41 RBI on the season to go along with a .265/.312/.358 slash line. He plays good defense and will remain a solid contributor for the Phillies, but there isn’t a lot of fantasy upside apart from his 16 stolen bases. Perhaps he can take another step offensively in 2027.

Herrera’s two-homer game gives him a total of 18 this season. He hit a solo shot off Jake Irvin in the first inning and added another one off the bullpen in the eighth inning. Herrera’s home runs were his first since September 5, a span of 12 games. He’s hitting .247 with a .746 OPS and 68 RBI.

Bichette took Cristopher Sanchez deep in the sixth inning for his 17th home run of the season. The 28-year-old also has 76 RBI while slashing .263/.312/.392 in his first season with the Mets. It hasn’t been a tremendous year for Bichette, but he hasn’t been a terrible offseason addition and has taken to third base relatively well. It remains to be seen if he will be with the Mets in 2027 or opt out of his deal.

Muñoz was hurt on a walk of TJ Rumfield after giving up a homer to Hunter Goodman earlier in the ninth. Eduardo Bazardo replaced him to try to close out the Rockies.

O’Brien has picked up his last two saves with little issue after blowing two saves back-to-back last week. He has 38 saves and 4.08 ERA. O’Brien came out of nowhere to have an excellent first half of the season, but has a 5.32 ERA in the second half.

Irvin gave up three hits, walked none and struck out eight. The eight strikeouts are the most Irvin has had in a start since April 25 against the White Sox, when he had nine. Irvin still hasn’t won a start since May 23 against the Braves. He’ll take a 5.40 ERA into his next start against the Mets next Sunday.

Mathews gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out three. It was a solid outing for the 25-year-old, but he wasn’t able to repeat the eight strikeouts from his last start. Mathews has had three consecutive quality starts for the first time in his MLB career. He has a 3.65 ERA. Mathews is lined up to face the Brewers on the road next Saturday.

Yastrzemski’s home run was his 12th of the season. He hit a three-run shot as part of a four-run sixth inning for the Braves. Yastrzemski has hit home runs in back-to-back games. He’s hitting .231 with a .706 OPS and 40 RBI this year. Yastrzemski isn’t a fantasy factor as a part-time player.
