This was reported to be happening yesterday and we now have official confirmation. Based on reporting he seems likely to undergo some sort of shoulder surgery in the near future.

Wilson has missed five of the last six games while dealing with a shoulder injury that will likely require offseason surgery. With the A’s going nowhere, this move makes plenty of sense — might as well get the rehab started early. Wilson hit .266/.298/.388 in 80 games this year while dealing with the injury.
