Chase DeLauter went 4-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI, and three runs scored as the Guardians blew out the Royals 11-1 on Sunday.
DeLauter has battled a couple of minor injuries since mid-August, but he remains a fixture atop Cleveland’s lineup when healthy. The rookie has hit second or third in each of his starts dating back to early May. The four hits on Sunday raised his batting average to .293, which ranks 10th among qualified hitters. While there have been sporadic missed games throughout the year, DeLauter’s 480 plate appearances to date are by far the most he has accumulated in a season since turning pro.
