Murray reported that many teams expressed interest in acquiring Kwan at this year’s trade deadline, but the Guardians saw a chance to make a playoff run and opted to hold onto their outfielder. Now, with Kwan entering the final year of his deal and the Guardians unlikely to sign him to an extension, the market for him is likely to heat up again. Kwan had a down year in 2026, hitting .282/.382/.349 with three home runs and 32 RBI; however, he was sixth in baseball in WAR from June 30 to the end of the regular season, and some teams may see that as a sign that he is due for a bounce-back in 2027.
  • CLE Right Fielder #24
DeLauter drove in a run in the sixth on a fielder’s choice, and unfortunately for him and the Guardians it came with Cleveland trailing by three. He also drew a walk and now has a .297/.395/.432 slash in his 10 postseason games in 2026.
  • CLE 3rd Baseman #11
If you’re keeping track at home, it’s also the same lineup that they deployed in victories in Game 1 and 3 of the series. Battling Rays’ right-hander Drew Rasmussen is always a very difficult assignment, but they managed to earn a victory against him in Game 1, so they know that it can be done. Here’s the full lineup that manager Stephen Vogt has turned in for the Guardians’ most critical game of the season on Sunday: Steven Kwan (LF), José Ramírez (3B), Chase DeLauter (RF), Jo Adell (DH), Nathaniel Lowe (1B), Travis Bazzana (2B), Patrick Bailey (C), Petey Halpin (CF) and Brayan Rocchio (SS).

The matchup is the same as in last night’s rained out game, so there’s no need to changeup the lineup of
Steven Kwan (LF), Jose Ramírez (3B), Chase DeLauter (RF), Jo Adell (DH), Nathaniel Lowe (1B), Travis Bazzana (2B), Patrick Bailey (C), Petey Halpin (CF) and Brayan Rocchio (SS).

Even though the Guardians only scored three runs in the contest, the Guardians feel like that’s the best possible lineup that they are able to put on the field against an opposing right-hander, so there’s no need to change anything up. Game 3 hero Petey Halpin will start in center field and bat eighth. Here’s the full lineup that they’ll deploy against Rays’ right-hander Nick Martinez as they look to take a commanding 3-1 advantage in the series: Steven Kwan (LF), Jose Ramírez (3B), Chase DeLauter (RF), Jo Adell (DH), Nathaniel Lowe (1B), Travis Bazzana (2B), Patrick Bailey (C), Petey Halpin (CF) and Brayan Rocchio (SS).
  • CLE Catcher #16
Bailey was not in the starting lineup for Game 2, but he drew a walk as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning. The 27-year-old has reached a new offensive height with a more pull-centric approach in Cleveland. He has gone 7-for-20 with two home runs, five RBI, and a 5/2 K/BB ratio so far this postseason.
  • CLE 3rd Baseman #11
Ramírez remained sizzling-hot as the Guardians erased an early deficit to rally for a comeback victory in the opener of a best-of-seven series, scoring all seven of their runs in the sixth inning or later. The 34-year-old franchise cornerstone capped off a sublime three-hit performance by extending Cleveland’s lead with a two-out RBI single in the ninth inning. He’s gone 8-for-17 with two homers and eight RBI over his last four postseason games. The two teams will square off again at Tropicana Field in Game 2 on Tuesday night.
  • CLE Right Fielder #24
DeLauter spearheaded Cleveland’s relentless offensive effort in this one as he tallied three hits, including a sixth-inning solo shot off Rays ace Drew Rasmussen. His most consequential knock was an eighth-inning double that set up a go-ahead two-run single by ensuing batter Nathaniel Lowe. He also drew a walk, reaching base safely in three of his five plate appearances. The 25-year-old rookie has fit perfectly with franchise cornerstone José Ramírez in the heart of Cleveland’s lineup, hitting .333 (8-for-24) with one homer and three RBI this postseason.
  • CLE 3rd Baseman #11
Ramírez served as Cleveland’s primary offensive catalyst, sparking a memorable comeback to take down the division-rival White Sox in a decisive Game 5 to reach the ALCS for the first time since 2016. The 34-year-old franchise cornerstone hit .417 (5-for-12) with two homers and seven RBI during the final three games of the series. They’ll face a tough challenge against Rays ace Drew Rasmussen at Tropicana Field to kick off the best-of-seven series. Here’s the full lineup: Steven Kwan (LF), Ramírez (3B), Chase DeLauter (RF), Jo Adell (DH), Nathaniel Lowe (1B), Travis Bazzana (2B), Patrick Bailey (C), Petey Halpin (CF) and Brayan Rocchio (SS).
  • CLE 3rd Baseman #11
Ramírez golfed a pitch well below his ankles out of the park for a two-run shot that gave Cleveland a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning. That pitch was just 0.74 feet off the ground, which is the lowest in the history of the tracking era (2008). That’s the second homer of the postseason for Ramírez, and it’s a great reminder of how incredible the 34-year-old has been after his worst regular season due to injuries and lackluster — comparatively, in particular — results when on the field. He’ll now have a chance to reach the World Series for a second time if they can get pat the Rays in the ALCS, with that series beginning Monday.

Arjun Nimmala went 5-for-7 with a two-run homer and a double in Mesa’s 21-5 win in the Arizona Fall League on Thursday.

After a really nice finish for Double-A Rocket City, Nimmala has hit .300/.447/.533 with two homers and four steals in four tries in the Arizona Fall League. He’s yet to play anywhere other than shortstop in the minors, but that will probably change early next year if the Angels hold on to Zach Neto.

Sebastian Walcott went 3-for-6 with a double and five RBI in the Saguaros 17-5 win over the Scorpions in Thursday’s Arizona Fall League play.

Walcott’s .300/.362/.460 line in Arizona isn’t much better than the league average, but it’s still encouraging from a 20-year-old who missed most of 2026. He also picked up his ninth steal in 10 tries Thursday.

Welbyn Francisca finished 4-for-6 with a two-run homer and four RBI for the Saguaros of the Arizona Fall League on Thursday.

The Guardians churn out a couple of intriguing infield prospects every year, and the switch-hitting Francisca is one of their new names to know. He has come in at .436/.492/.745 with three homers and a league-high 22 RBI through 12 games in Arizona. He’ll likely open 2027 as a 20-year-old in Double-A.

Ty Harvey went 2-for-3 with a two-run double, two walks, three steals and three runs scored for the Javelinas of the Arizona Fall League on Thursday.

Harvey, a catcher drafted in the fifth round out of a Florida high school in 2025, is just 9-for-44 with no homers for Peoria, but he’s a remarkable 12-for-12 stealing bases. He was also 9-for-10 there in 57 minor league games this year. He’s yet to play above Low-A ball in the minors, so he’s a long way from the majors. There’s the chance he could wind up as a backup to Ethan Salas someday.

Colby Shelton hit a grand slam for the Desert Dogs of the AFL on Thursday.

Shelton, a 2025 sixth-round pick out of the University of Florida, is hitting .277/.379/.511 with three homers in 15 games in Arizona. He came in at .244/.338/.488 with 24 homers and 14 steals between High-A and Double-A last season. The White Sox are grooming him as a utilityman, and he could prove to be a solid one in time.

The Seibu Lions confirmed Friday that Kaima Taira will be made available to MLB teams this winter.

Taira will be one of the winter’s most fascinating acquisitions. A dominant reliever, he was given a second chance to start games in 2026 and went 12-5 with an NPB-best 1.36 ERA and a 141/46 K/BB in 146 innings for Seibu last season. His stuff is plenty good enough to stick in an MLB rotation, but there will be concerns about how his 5-foot-8 frame will hold up as a starter. But, then, if he does run into injury issues, he could always return to the pen later on. He should command a pretty hefty contract from an MLB team.

Andrew Parker of Sox Prospects reports that the Tigers will acquire infielder Tsung-Che Cheng from the Red Sox for cash considerations.

The deal won’t be made official until the Tigers clear the requisite room on their 40-man roster which could take a day or two. Cheng, 25, appeared in 14 games with the Red Sox in 2026, slashing .256/.318/.282 with zero homers and five RBI in 44 plate appearances. He’ll add infield depth for the Tigers.

According to Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Phillies plan to designate veteran backstop Garrett Stubbs for assignment.

Once the move is made official, the club will have five days to trade him or to put him through waivers. Stubbs, 33, played in 35 games for the Phillies during the 2026 campaign, slashing .153/.215/.153 with zero homers, three RBI and a 15/3 K/BB ratio over 65 plate appearances.

Brewers RHP’ Dustin May declined his $20 million mutual option for 2027.

Instead, he’ll receive a $500,000 buyout and will look for a lucrative multi-year deal on the open market. The 29-year-old righty made 31 starts between the Cardinals and Brewers in 2026, posting a 4.70 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and a 144/50 K/BB ratio across 145 2/3 innings during the regular season. He then logged 11 innings in five appearances out of the Brewers’ bullpen as they marched to their first World Series title in franchise history. May shouldn’t have any trouble finding a landing spot in free agency.

Mets designated OF Cristian Pache for assignment.

The Mets had to clear a spot on their 40-man roster for the addition of Kyren Paris on Thursday and unfortunately for Pache, he was the odd man out this time. The 27-year-old defensive specialist received just eight plate appearances with the Mets in 2026, going 1-for-8 with four strikeouts. There’s a possibility that other clubs could take a chance on him on waivers.
