George Soriano got one out Sunday against the Rockies for his third save of the year.

Cardinals closer Riley O’Brien was given a second day off after pitching three straight days from Wednesday through Friday. It didn’t seem like it’d be a problem with the Cardinals up 10-6 after eight, but the Rockies did make it interesting. Ryne Stanek hit a batter and gave up a single while getting two outs. Soriano took over then and gave up a two-run single to Jake McCarthy before striking out Troy Johnston to end the game.

George Soriano stranded the bases loaded in the ninth while earning his fourth save Sunday against the White Sox.

Soriano gave up a single and two walks before getting Colson Montgomery to fly out to end the game. Soriano’s last five appearances have seen him earn two saves in place of Riley O’Brien but also take two losses. O’Brien, who was down today after pitching both Friday and Saturday, should be available to close on Monday.

Asked to finish off a four-run lead, Riley O’Brien walked three and gave up a run in the ninth Saturday against the Twins.

O’Brien got the job done in the end, but not before making everyone pretty nervous. He also threw 31 pitches, which might take him out of play Sunday. O’Brien has allowed 13 earned runs, walked 10 and hit four batters over 17 innings in his last 17 appearances. He could bounce back, but those in deeper leagues on the hunt for saves might want to think about stashing George Soriano. He’s not taking over the job just yet, but he could close Sunday if O’Brien needs the day off.

George Soriano gave up one run and recorded the save against the Royals on Saturday.

With Riley O’Brien unavailable on Saturday after pitching in three of the last four games, Soriano got the call in the ninth inning with a three-run lead. He surrendered a solo homer to Jac Caglianone before holding on for his second save of the season. Expect O’Brien to step right back in should a save situation arise on Sunday.

George Soriano fired a scoreless ninth inning on Monday against the Pirates to pick up his first save of the season.

Soriano received his opportunity with both Riley O’Brien, JoJo Romero and Ryne Stanek presumably unavailable for workload reasons after each of them threw over 30 pitches during a two-game span over the weekend. The 27-year-old righty was charged with preserving a two-run lead and managed to work around a two-out single by Nick Gonzales to slam the door.

Cardinals acquired RHP George Soriano from the Nationals for RHP Andre Granillo.

Hopefully this ends the carousel ride that Soriano has been on this winter — going from the Marlins, to the Orioles, to the Braves, to the Nationals and now to the Cardinals as spring training begins. The 26-year-old hurler should be able to secure a middle relief role in the Cardinals’ Opening Day bullpen with a strong showing in Grapefruit League action.

Nationals designated RHP George Soriano for assignment.

Soriano was just claimed off of waivers from the Braves at the end of January, but he’ll go back into roster limbo as the Nationals needed to clear a spot for Ken Waldichuk. The 26-year-old hurler has already been claimed on waivers three times since the 2025 season came to a close, so it’s likely that there will be interest in him once more this time around.

Soriano was designated for assignment earlier this week when the Braves claimed Jose Suarez. Now, he’ll wind up in Washington, but is still a long shot to make the Opening Day roster after posting a 7.64 ERA in 66 innings over his last two seasons.

Atlanta and Baltimore are rearranging deck chairs with their end-of-bullpen moves. The Orioles designated George Soriano for assignment back in January and then claimed Jose Suarez off waivers from the Braves. Now, the Orioles have designated Suarez for assignment, so the Braves claimed him back and designated Soriano for assignment. The 26-year-old has a 7.64 ERA in 66 innings over his last two seasons, so we’ll see where he lands next.

Still, he was quite effective anyway, and the win gives him a 1-2 record and a 4.56 ERA through eight starts and seven relief appearances. He’s lined up to face the Twins on Monday.

He’s hitting .250/.351/.363 in 97 plate appearances in a bid to try to survive a roster armageddon next month when the Giants have to made decisions on how many of their 16 players on the 60-day injured list they’re going to reinstate to the 40-man roster.

All of Atlanta’s runs came on two-run homers; Ronald Acuña Jr. hit the first off Kevin Gausman in the sixth, Albies gave the Braves a 4-3 lead off Jacob Webb in the seventh and then Drake Baldwin provided insurance against Edward Cabrera in the ninth. Albies’ homer came from the eighth spot in the lineup, which was the lowest he’s hit all year. He was batting just .195/.252/.337 in 226 plate appearances since the All-Star break.

Things are definitely looking up for Daniel Palencia, who retired the only batter he faced tonight, but it might be too late to matter much for fantasy purposes.
