Clay Holmes undone by rough sixth in no-decision

Taylor made things interesting as he allowed a one-out walk to Colt Keith and then a single to Kevin McGonigle to put the tying runs on base. He rebounded though to get Gleyer Torres to hit into a game-ending double play. For the season, Taylor has been the key cog in the White Sox’ bullpen, posting a 2.34 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and a 103/30 K/BB ratio over 80 2/3 innings while securing seven victories and nine saves.

The right-hander punched out six batters on the night while walking a pair. The only run that scored against him came on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Gleyber Torres in the third inning. Aside from that, Fedde was in complete control. It was unfortunate for fantasy managers that he was lifted just one out shy of earning a victory. Fedde got eight whiffs on 89 pitches on the evening, posting a CSW of 30 percent. He’ll carry a 3.90 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and a 97/50 K/BB ratio (138 1/3 innings) into his regular season finale against the Royals in Kansas City on Wednesday.

Despite being on base three different times, the Tigers were unable to cash him in at all and mustered just one total run in the contest. The 22-year-old infielder continues to look like the favorite to take home the Rookie of the Year award in the American League, slashing .275/.377/.425 with 17 homers, 65 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 668 plate appearances.

On the plus side for fantasy managers, he racked up eight strikeouts on the night while issuing four free passes. All of the damage done against him came in the opening inning on a two-out, three-run blast off the bat of Munetaka Murakami. He blanked the White Sox for the rest of his night, but the Tigers were never able to come back. Valdez got 16 swings and misses on 90 offerings — nine on his curveball — while posting an elite CSW of 38 percent. He’ll attempt to finish his season on a high note as he brings a 4.06 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and a 129/64 K/BB ratio (168 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s battle against the Nationals.

Harper opened the scoring in the ballgame with an RBI infield single in the fifth inning. That would be all the run support that Aaron Nola and company would require in this one. For the season, the 33-year-old superstar is slashing a solid .274/.387/.497 with 28 homers, 84 RBI and seven swipes in 653 plate appearances.

Stott led off the eighth inning with a double off of Tobias Myers — the only extra-base hit for either team in the ballgame — and then scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Justin Crawford. With his two-hit attack, the 28-year-old infielder is now hitting .250/.326/.390 with 10 long balls, 65 RBI and 25 stolen bases (in 25 attempts) over 571 plate appearances on the year.

Duran came on with a three-run lead to protect against the heart of the Mets’ lineup. He did allow a leadoff single to Bo Bichette, but retired the next three hitters in order, including strikeouts of Mark Vientos and AJ Ewing to close it out. The 28-year-old closer has had another terrific season for the Phillies, registering a 1.76 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and a 79/9 K/BB ratio over 56 1/3 innings while converting 32 of his first 34 save chances.

The 33-year-old right-hander scattered three singles and three walks on the night while striking out four. The only real threat against him came as the Mets put two men on with one out in the sixth inning, but he was able to get Francisco Lindor to bounce into an inning-ending double play to quell that rally. Nola generated nine swings and misses on 81 offerings in the contest, posting a strong CSW of 32 percent. He’ll look to further improve upon his 4.49 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in his regular season finale against the Brewers on Wednesday.

As a team, the Mets tallied just four hits in the ballgame — all of them singles. Soto drew a one-out walk in the first inning but was promptly picked off of first base. He then walked again in the fourth and was erased on a double play. For the season, the 27-year-old slugger is slashing .270/.390/.515 with 25 homers, 61 RBI and nine stolen bases in only 439 plate appearances in his 102 games.

The right-hander also issued three walks in the ballgame while striking out five. The lone tally against him came on an RBI infield single off the bat of Bryce Harper in the fifth inning. Unfortunately for McLean, that was enough to do him in as the Mets couldn’t scratch out a single run of support for him. He got just four whiffs on 82 pitches on the evening, posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll look to finish the season strong as he carries a terrific 3.18 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and a 189/69 K/BB ratio (172 2/3 innings) into Thursday’s battle against the Rangers in Arlington.
