Kyle Bradish pulled after three, takes 14th loss

The runs came in the second on a walk, a Gunnar Henderson error and then a homer from Eli White. Bradish allowed just one other hit, but he walked four in all. With the Orioles losing six straight and close to being out of contention, it’s possible Bradish will be shut down for the last week or two of the season. He’s at 152 innings this year after coming in at 39 and 54 the previous two seasons, which were interrupted by Tommy John surgery. As things stand now, he’s slated to face the Blue Jays next weekend.

After a scoreless first inning in Colorado, Bradish gave up a solo homer to Adael Amador in the second. A triple and a base hit plated one more run for the Rockies before Bradish could get to the third inning. He gave the Orioles three more scoreless frames before ending his day after five at 95 pitches. He struck out four. The 29-year-old right-hander will take a 4.01 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and a 137/64 K/BB ratio across 148 innings into a start against the Red Sox in Baltimore on Sunday.

Cade Povich will start Monday’s series opener against the Rockies at Coors Field with Bradish taking the ball on Tuesday instead. There doesn’t appear to be a physical issue at play here, but the Orioles want to give him some extra rest. The 29-year-old is coming off a disastrous outing against the Cardinals last week where he was torched for seven runs over 4 1/3 innings. It’s challenging to trust Bradish in Coors Field, especially in shallow mixed leagues. There’s a chance his next outing against the Red Sox this weekend could also get pushed back, eliminating a two-start week in the process. There are superior alternatives on the waivers wire in most shallow mixed leagues.

Bradish allowed only a Nolan Gorman solo homer through four before giving up two singles, two walks and two doubles in the fifth. None of the hits were particularly impressive — the two that were hard-hit were both grounders — but those free passes really hurt. It’s the first time this season Bradish has allowed more than five runs, and his ERA crept back over 4.00 for the first time since mid-June. He’s still a reasonable bet in mixed leagues for now, but some late-season fatigue is possible in his first full year back from Tommy John.

The 29-year-old righty punched out five batters in the contest while issuing a pair of free passes. The Yankees struck for three runs (two of them unearned) in the third inning, then Bradish served up solo homers to Luis Garcia Jr. and Spencer Jones before exiting in the sixth inning. Bradish got 10 whiffs on 100 pitches on the night, posting an uninspiring CSW of 25 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he carries a 3.70 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and a 129/60 K/BB ratio (138 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Cardinals in St. Louis.

Bradish, who finished with only three strikeouts and four whiffs on 35 swings, left in line for the win, but a one-run lead was blown in the ninth, keeping him 7-11 with a 3.65 ERA. His next start will come against Yankees. He’s faced them twice this season, turning in one of his best outings (one hit in six scoreless innings) and one of his worst (five runs in four innings). It probably doesn’t mean much, especially since both of those came in May with Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger healthy.

While both runs were unearned, it’s worth noting that one of the errors that created a run was made by Bradish. So unearned, but deserved. The right-hander did pitch well outside of a two-run second where the defense faltered, and he allowed just five hits with no walks and struck out four. Unfortunately, his defense — and he himself — did falter, and the offense gave up just one single run of support. Bradish will try to continue to lower his 3.61 ERA in a scheduled start against the Rays on Friday.

Bradish surrendered a double to Justin Crawford and then a homer to Bryan De La Cruz in the third before a two-hour delay brought his day to an end. It was enough to get him tagged with his 10th loss of the year. He’ll probably make his next start Friday in Texas.

Bradish surrendered a two-out RBI single to Zach McKinstry on his 93rd pitch of the ballgame, having allowed five runs for the first time since June 11. The unexpected clunker included a whopping 10 hits with only one of them going for extra bases. He finished with four strikeouts and only issued one walk. He’ll attempt to turn things around with a home matchup against the Phillies on Sunday to wrap up a two-start week.

Bradish allowed four hits, walked one and struck out four on a cool 10 days’ rest tonight. He was originally supposed to pitch Sunday but was pushed back after signing his five-year extension Saturday and then his scheduled start Tuesday was rained out. Bradish is 4-2 with a 2.03 ERA in his last six starts. He’ll pitch in Detroit next week.
