Tim Alderson pitched 6 2/3 hitless innings and struck out 10 in his debut for Double-A Connecticut on Sunday.
Many say that, besides Triple-A to the majors, moving from A-ball to Double-A is the toughest jump to make in the pros. That probably isn’t true for Giants pitching prospects, though, as they go from the excellent hitting environments in the California League to one of the minors’ friendliest parks for pitchers in Connecticut. That doesn’t diminish Alderson’s work yesterday, but it’s something to keep in mind when he posts a better ERA for Connecticut than he did in his five starts for Single-A San Jose (1-1, 4.15 ERA).
