Hernandez has managed a hideous .157/.195/.260 career batting line over 127 major league at-bats and also hit just .201/.229/.308 at Triple-A in the Braves organization this season. Burns was pumping 97.6 mph gas with the fastball and got a 36 percent whiff rate with his slider. It’s a little disappointing he only struck out four, but he generated plenty of weak contact and even his two hits allowed got little air time. Burns carries a 2.42 ERA into his next start on the road in Tampa Bay and should be trusted in most leagues.

He carried a no-hitter into the sixth before allowing a single to P.J. Higgins to lead off the inning. He then took care of a 2-on, no-out threat by striking out Matt McClain and getting Elly De La Cruz to hit into a double play. It was threatening to be a no-decision as Chase Burns matched him frame-for-frame, but Cincinnati’s bullpen forked over three runs in the seventh. Roupp’s peripherals have been strong so far and he should be started with confidence against most teams. We wouldn’t blame you if you shied away from starting him against the Dodgers next week, though.

Shuster does not have to report and can elect free agency if he chooses. He’d allowed two runs in 3 2/3 innings with the Cardinals. The 27-year-old was released by the Athletics this offseason and probably will need to earn another major league chance, be it with the Cardinals or someone else.

His leg will be immobilized “several weeks.” Clevinger pitched in six games for Indianapolis before getting hurt, culminating in a 5.19 ERA, five walks, nine strikeouts, and a 1.15 WHIP. With the Pirates pitching staff seemingly in good hands at the moment, Clevinger had no real path to the majors.

He’ll be the White Sox over the weekend in Sacramento and then head out for the rehab assignment. It looks like there’s a chance Teel comes up in the next 10-14 days, which would put him on the higher end of the initial 4-6 week timeline for the hamstring injury he suffered during a WBC game on March 10.

He should run the bases next week in Florida. It’s hard to tell exactly how bad Triolo’s injury is from the outside, but it sounds like he’s at least a few weeks from being a candidate to be activated. Assuming everything goes right in his rehab, that is.

They’re reportedly targeting a return for Springer when they get back to Toronto next week. Springer has yet to run on the injury, but should make his comeback to the top of the lineup shortly. Springer was off to a .185/.290/.370 start with two homers and a stolen base before getting injured last Saturday.

This is a procedural move to clear a spot for Richard Lovelady on the 40-man roster. Waldichuk is gathering a second opinion to try and avoid undergoing Tommy John surgery, but even if he does avoid it, he’ll be out for a majority of the season.

Against LHP Jacob Lopez, Seager gets a rest day. He homered yesterday and is off to a .203/.321/.453 start in his first 78 plate appearances this year. Ezequiel Duran will cover at shortstop this afternoon.
