Luis Valbuena and former Pirates second baseman Jose Castillo were killed in a car accident in Venezuela on Thursday night.

Both were playing with the Lara Cardinales in the Venezuelan Winter League. Valbuena, 33, was a major league free agent after being released by the Angels in August. He spent 11 seasons in the bigs, hitting a career-high 25 homers for the Astros in 2015. Castillo, 37, played five seasons in the majors from 2004-08. Our condolences go out to the families of both.

Walker Jenkins

Walker Jenkins is leading off and playing center field for Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday.

Jenkins has been dealing with a hamstring injury, and the 21-year-old will play seven innings for the next week or so as he builds his strength back up according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic. Jenkins is among the best prospects in baseball and likely will make his MLB debut this summer.

Pete Fairbanks

MIA Relief Pitcher #29

Pete Fairbanks will not be available for Sunday’s game against the Rockies.

Fairbanks picked up the save in back-to-back games, so the 32-year-old will get a day of rest for the finale against Colorado. Anthony Bender or Calvin Faucher would likely get the ninth inning if a save opportunity is presented.

Walbert Ureña

LAA Starting Pitcher #57

Angels manager Kurt Suzuki told reporters that Walbert Ureña will return to starting after being optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Ureña was optioned Sunday after a disastrous relief appearance against the Astros on Saturday. The 22-year-old will be a potential starting option if he pitches well in Salt Lake, but can be safely ignored in redraft leagues for now.

Jake Fraley

Jake Fraley has been scratched from Sunday’s lineup due to soreness in his right shoulder.

Rays manager Kevin Cash told reporters that Fraley picked up some soreness after attempting to make a diving catch during Saturday’s game against St. Louis. Cash also suggested that the injury isn’t believed to be serious, so for now, consider Fraley day-to-day.

Honeywell was either given his walking papers or opted out of his minor league pact with the Giants, but either way, he’s now free to find a new organization to play for. The former top prospect is almost assuredly looking at another minor league contract with whatever organization deems him worthy.

Abrams was away from the team Saturday due to a death in his family. Nasim Nuñez will get the start at second base after filling in at short for that contest, and Luis Garcia begins Sunday’s contest on the bench.

Carlos Estévez

KC Relief Pitcher #53

Carlos Estévez is dealing with a right ankle contusion and is currently wearing a walking boot.

Estévez was rocked for six runs and blew Saturday’s save against Atlanta, and it’s very plausible that the ankle injury didn’t help. Royals manager Matt Quatraro hinted that Estévez likely wouldn’t be available, but if he is, also suggested that he would be used in a “lower-leverage” situation. Estévez’s velocity was down all spring, and fantasy managers need to pay close attention to this situation. Lucas Erceg would likely be next man up for closing games.
