Giants signed RHP Carlos Navas to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Navas, 26, held a 3.19 ERA and 89/16 K/BB ratio across 73 1/3 frames at Double-A in the Reds organization last season. He’s a long shot to win a bullpen job.

José Berríos scattered four hits and didn’t allow a run over seven innings with one walk and eight strikeouts in a 9-0 win over the Red Sox on Friday.
This was vintage Berríos. His lineup gave him an early lead and he never let Boston get close to clawing their way back into this game. He worked all four quadrants of the zone with his slurve leading the way followed by an even mix of fastballs, sinkers, and changeups. He’s now completed at least six innings in seven of his last eight starts and has a fantastic 3.26 ERA on the season. His next start is scheduled to come at home against the Yankees.
Rays' Caminero emerging as fantasy star in 2025
Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero is rising to stardom with 20 home runs this season, so it shouldn't be surprising to see him creep up into the first few rounds in next year's fantasy baseball drafts.
  • TOR Right Fielder #4
George Springer went 3-for-5 with two RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base on Friday against the Red Sox.
This was a huge game for the Blue Jays’ lineup and Springer got them started on the right foot with a run-scoring single in the first inning off Brayan Bello. They chipped away at Bello and eventually broke this game open against Boston’s bullpen. Springer was part of their final rally too with another RBI single in the eighth inning when this game was already out of reach. He’s enjoyed a true renaissance this season with 11 home runs, nine stolen bases, and an .832 OPS just past the halfway point of the season.
  • BOS Center Fielder #19
Roman Anthony went 1-for-3 with a double on Friday against the Blue Jays on Friday.
The Red Sox offense is stuck in a deep, deep slump. It turns out that trading your best hitter can do that to a club. Anthony has been at the center of these team-wide struggles with a .128 batting average 47 at-bats into his major league career. Yet, it does feel a bit unfair that his club traded the face of their franchise then decided to insert their 21-year-old rookie into the third spot in the order to theoretically replace him. Good times will be ahead for Anthony, it’s just hard to figure when it will click with all the pressure on him currently.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #66
Brayan Bello allowed eight hits and three runs with three walks and just one strikeout over six innings in a loss to the Blue Jays on Friday.
Well, at least Bello worked his way to a quality start, right? The Blue Jays scratched across a single run in each of the first three innings and Bello never seemed comfortable. He was trapped in long at-bats and couldn’t put hitters away. Instead, they made consistent contact and made him work hard to get outs. He even looked uncomfortable holding runners on with George Springer and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. swiping bases against him. There’s been a lot of buzz around him lately after incorporating a new cutter into his repertoire and getting him more strikeouts. Of his last three starts, this one had by far his lowest cutter usage at 13%. Correlation doesn’t equal causation, but this one had by far the worst results of the trio. He’s scheduled to face the Reds at home next time out.
  • HOU Shortstop #3
Jeremy Peña was removed from Friday night’s game against the Cubs after being hit in the ribs by a pitch during the second inning.
Fortunately, X-rays came back negative for any fractures and the 27-year-old shortstop isn’t expected to miss any significant time. He’s considered day-to-day and could return to action as early as Saturday depending on how he feels after sleeping on it.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #43
Astros’ manager Joe Espada confirmed after Friday’s game that Lance McCullers Jr. (foot) will return from the injured list to start against the Cubs on Saturday.
The 31-year-old right-hander has been sidelined since the middle of June due to a right foot sprain. His return will seemingly bump Ryan Gusto from the Astros’ rotation once again. McCullers returns to a 4.91 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and a 39/16 K/BB ratio across 29 1/3 innings through his first seven starts with the Astros this season.
  • SF Catcher #14
Patrick Bailey went 1-for-3 and delivered a go-ahead two-run triple in the sixth inning on Friday night, propelling the Giants to a 3-1 victory over the White Sox in Chicago.
Bailey drew a walk to lead off the third inning and raced around to score the Giants’ first run on an RBI double by Wilmer Flores. The 26-year-old backstop then came through with the biggest hit of the night with a two-run triple off of Tyler Alexander in the sixth that put the Giants ahead for good. On the season, he’s slashing a miserable .192/.261/.280 with just one home run, 19 RBI and a 64/18 K/BB ratio through his first 206 plate appearances.
  • SF 1st Baseman #41
Wilmer Flores went 1-for-4 with a run-scoring double as the Giants triumphed over the White Sox in Chicago on Friday evening.
Flores evened the score at one run apiece in the third inning as he plated Patrick Bailey with an RBI double off of Aaron Civale. His pace at the plate has cooled considerably since his sizzling start to the season, as Flores is now slashing just .243/.315/.389 to go with his 11 home runs and 55 RBI.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #75
Camilo Doval slammed the door on the White Sox in the ninth inning on Friday, retiring the side in order to protect a two-run advantage.
The 27-year-old right-hander looked every bit like a dominant closer in this one, retiring Edgar Quero on a ground ball to second base before he struck out Mike Tauchman and Chase Meidroth in succession on swinging third strikes. On the season, Doval now boasts a 2.70 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 35/17 K/BB ratio over 36 2/3 innings while converting 13 of his first 16 save chances.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #65
Landen Roupp pitched well in Friday night’s victory over the White Sox, allowing just one unearned run on seven hits across his 5 1/3 frames.
Roupp punched out four batters on the evening while issuing a pair of walks. The lone tally against him came in the opening inning on an error made by Willy Adames. After that, Roupp and the Giants’ bullpen silenced the White Sox for the rest of the night. He got seven swings and misses on 94 pitches in the ballgame, registering a CSW of 28 percent. Roupp now sits at 6-5 on the season with a 3.43 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and a 74/34 K/BB ratio across 81 1/3 innings of work. He’ll do battle against the Diamondbacks in Arizona his next time out on Wednesday.
