Blue Jays activated RHP Joakim Soria from the COVID-19 injured list.
It’s a paperwork move after Soria missed the final week of the regular season. The veteran impending free agent struggled to a 5.06 ERA in 37 1/3 innings of relief this summer between Arizona and Toronto.

Rays activated RHP Craig Kimbrel from the 15-day injured list.
Kimbrel will rejoin the pen after missing time with a strained right wrist. He pitched a scoreless inning in his only appearance for the Rays before going on the injured list.
'Fire up' Skubal after quick recovery from injury
Returning from a remarkably quick recovery timeline, Tarik Skubal takes the mound once again this weekend. James Schiano shares what fantasy managers should expect from one of the game's true aces.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #59
Rays optioned RHP Mason Englert to Triple-A Durham.
Englert gets swapped out after allowing five runs in 4 1/3 innings out of the pen on Friday. He has a 7.59 ERA in three appearances for the Rays this season.
  • LAA 1st Baseman #18
Nolan Schanuel is back at first base for Saturday’s game against the Rays.
Still dealing with the calf/ankle issues that had him on the IL earlier this month, Schanuel didn’t start either of the Angels’ previous two games. This is his fourth start in seven games (six versus righties) since he was activated.
  • LAD Shortstop #72
Miguel Rojas was removed from Saturday’s game in the seventh inning with an apparent injury.
Rojas got checked out by a trainer during his at-bat in the seventh and was lifted for a pinch-runner after drawing a walk.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #63
Rockies selected the contract of RHP Eiberson Castellano from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Castellano will be making his major league debut. The 25-year-old former Phillies prospect was signed by the Rockies over the winter after becoming a minor league free agent. He had a 2.44 ERA in 10 starts for Double-A Hartford and one six-inning relief appearance for Albuquerque.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #46
Rockies optioned RHP Jeff Criswell to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Criswell loses his spot after pitching two scoreless innings in his first major league action since Tommy John surgery. He’ll be back.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #56
Rockies sent RHP Valente Bellozo outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Bellozo had a 7.59 ERA in three appearances for the Rockies back in April and had been pitching in Triple-A since. This takes him off the 40-man roster, but he’s going to remain with Albuquerque and hope for another chance.
  • CLE 3rd Baseman #11
José Ramírez left Saturday’s game after five innings with an apparent injury.
It looked like it might be a hand/wrist issue. Ramírez being the third Guardians player leaving due to injury forced the Guardians to put Rhys Hoskins in left for his first outfield appearance since 2018. Kyle Manzardo replaced Hoskins at first base.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #55
Cole Ragans is set to undergo more tests after another setback with his elbow.
“Cole woke up yesterday, not feeling as well arm-wise,” manager Matt Quatraro said. “So, when he came out to play catch yesterday, he had to cut it short. So, we’re going to get him some more testing in the next couple of days.” Ragans hasn’t pitched since May 6 and had a 4.84 ERA in eight starts before landing on the injured list for what was originally expected to be a minimal stay.
  • CLE Left Fielder #1
X-rays were negative on Angel Martínez’s left foot, making him day-to-day with a contusion.
Martínez departed Saturday’s game against the tigers an inning after fouling a ball off the foot and was replaced by Steven Kwan, who had been out of the lineup against Tarik Skubal.
