Tim Mayza (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Saturday with Triple-A Buffalo.
Mayza has resumed throwing after separating his right (non-throwing) shoulder on a home-plate collision earlier this month and shouldn’t require too long of a rehab assignment before rejoining the Blue Jays’ bullpen mix.

Cole Ragans left Wednesday’s game in the first inning after getting hit on the pitching hand by a comebacker.
Not initially, though. Even though Ragans, who struck out both batters he faced before taking a José Ramírez liner off both his glove and pitching hands, missed badly on his warmup pitches after the injury, he convinced the Royals to leave him in. He then walked David Fry on four pitches and gave up a long two-run double to Chase DeLauter before exiting. He’ll probably be fine for his next start, but whether he had a bruise or just some numbness, he clearly had to be lifted today.
Better late than never: Walker off to great start
Eric Samulski analyzes Jordan Walker's hot start to the season, explaining what the 23-year-old is doing better and sharing why he "certainly has the power to hit 30 home runs if he continues to start for the Cardinals."
  • LAD 2nd Baseman #72
Miguel Rojas is starting at shortstop and batting ninth on Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
Rojas was scratched from the lineup on Tuesday and then later posted on Instagram that his father had suddenly passed away. He will be back in the lineup on Wednesday, in what is sure to be an emotional game for him.
  • PHI Catcher #10
J.T. Realmuto (foot) is not starting on Wednesday against the Giants.
Realmuto fouled a ball off his foot on Tuesday and was forced to leave the game. X-rays were negative, but he will miss at least one game with an off day on Thursday. Rafael Marchan will start behind the dish and bat eighth on Wednesday.
  • SEA Right Fielder #17
Mariners selected the contract of OF Connor Joe from Triple-A Tacoma
With Victor Robles (pec) landing on the injured list, Joe will come up to play against left-handed pitchers when Dominic Canzone sits. The 33-year-old slashed just .186/.263/.243 in 80 MLB plate appearances last season.
  • SEA Right Fielder #10
Mariners placed OF Victor Robles on the 10-day injured list with a right pec strain.
Robles has been limited to just 13 plate appearances this season as a short-side platoon outfielder. He doesn’t have much fantasy value in that role, even if he were healthy.
  • SD 3rd Baseman #13
Manny Machado is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Pirates.
It’s just a routine day off for Machado, who doesn’t get many of those. Miguel Andujar will start at third base with Nick Castellanos in the lineup at designated hitter.
  • CIN Catcher #96
Reds selected the contract of C P.J. Higgins from Triple-A Louisville.
With Jose Trevino (spinal strain) on the IL, Higgins will come up to serve as Tyler Stephenson’s backup.
  • Reds designated 1B Christian Encarnacion-Strand for assignment.
This is quite a fall for the 26-year-old. Encarnacion-Strand emerged as an intriguing power prospect after hitting 32 home runs in Double-A for the Twins and Reds in 2022. He then hit 13 home runs in 63 MLB games for the Reds in 2023, but things quickly fell apart after that. He was limited to just 29 games in 2024 due to injury, and his results at Triple-A were modest in 2025. Still, there is plenty of power in his bat, and we’d be shocked if somebody didn’t claim him off waivers. He might be traded before that happens.
  • CIN Catcher #35
Reds placed C Jose Trevino on the 10-day injured list with a thoracic spine strain.
Well, that doesn’t sound great. The Reds have called up P.J. Higgins to take Trevino’s place, but we don’t yet have a set timeline for how long the 33-year-old will be sidelined.
  • PIT Designated Hitter #24
Marcell Ozuna is not in the lineup on Wednesday against the Padres.
The veteran is struggling to start the season, with his hard contact rates among the lowest he’s posted in his career. Obviously, the Pirates are going to want his bat in the lineup, considering the contract they signed him to this off-season, so they’re likely treating this as a mini reset. Ryan O’Hearn is at DH, with Nick Yorke starting at third base.
