Stephen Nogosek has elected free agency.
Nogosek has refused an outright assignment to Triple-A Syracuse and will instead test the free agent waters in search of a new opportunity. The 28-year-old righty has made 13 relief appearances this season for the Mets and should be able to latch on somewhere else in short order.

Tigers transferred INF/OF Javier Báez to the 60-day injured list.
The 33-year-old has struggled to make progress in his recovery from a high-grade ankle sprain that has shelved him since the end of April. He’s not expected to return until after the All-Star break, so this move doesn’t alter his timeline at all.
Rays' ace Rasmussen proving he is a top-20 SP
Consistently of baseball's most "underrated" arms, Drew Rasmussen is fresh off a career-best outing amid another impressive season. James Schiano dives into the numbers behind his brilliance.
  • DET Center Fielder #30
Tigers claimed OF James Outman off waivers from the Twins.
Outman was designated for assignment by the Twins on Saturday. The 29-year-old outfielder slashed a miserable .156/.229/.250 with no homers and four stolen bases in 70 plate appearances with the Twins. He did slug 23 homers in 567 plate appearances as a rookie for the Dodgers in 2023 though, so perhaps the Tigers think they can help him regain that form. He’s out of minor league options so he’s expected to join the Tigers on Friday where they’ll need to make a corresponding move to accommodate him. Javier Baez was transferred to the 60-day injured list to free up a spot on the club’s 40-man roster.
  • BAL Catcher #29
Samuel Basallo (wrist) returned to the Orioles’ starting lineup for Thursday evening’s skirmish against the Mariners.
Basallo missed each of the team’s last three ballgames due to a left injury he suffered during a collision at home plate on Sunday. He’s back behind the dish and will bat fifth for the Orioles against Bryan Woo and the Mariners on Thursday.
  • BAL Catcher #35
Adley Rutschman (hamstring) returned to the Orioles’ starting lineup for Thursday night’s series finale against the Mariners.
Rutschman missed the previous three contests due to a lingering hamstring issue. He’s serving as the team’s designated hitter and will bat third against Mariners’ right-hander Bryan Woo on Thursday evening in Baltimore.
  • PIT Right Fielder #29
Ryan O’Hearn is not in the Pirates’ starting lineup for Thursday evening’s showdown against the Dodgers.
O’Hearn will get a breather with left-hander Justin Wrobleski toeing the slab for the opposition. Esmerlyn Valdez will start in his place in right field and will bat sixth for the Pirates on Thursday night at PNC Park.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher
Phillies designated RHP Jackson Rutledge for assignment.
Rutledge loses his spot on the Phillies’ 40-man roster to make room for the acquisition of Derek Hill on Thursday. The 27-year-old hurler has registered a 4.42 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and a 12/11 K/BB ratio over 18 1/3 innings in 18 appearances at the Triple-A level this season. He may slide through waivers unclaimed and continue to function as extra pitching depth for the Phillies.
  • CWS 2nd Baseman
White Sox acquired INF Jose Colmenares and OF Dylan Campbell from the Phillies for OF Derek Hill.
Colmenares, 24, was in the midst of a solid season at High-A Jersey Shore, slashing .278/.403/.413 with three homers, 19 RBI, five stolen bases (in 14 attempts) and a 41/25 K/BB ratio over 154 plate appearances. Given his age, the White Sox may opt to bump him up to Double-A to see how he fares against higher-level competition.
  • CWS Outfield
White Sox acquired OF Dylan Campbell and INF Jose Colmenares from the Phillies for OF Derek Hill.
Campbell, 23, was originally a fourth-round selection by the Dodgers from the 2023 draft class. He has really struggled offensively at Double-A Reading this season, slashing .216/.281/.412 with seven homers, 31 RBI and nine stolen bases in 218 plate appearances. He’ll add minor league outfield depth for the White Sox.
  • PHI Right Fielder #25
Phillies acquired OF Derek Hill from the White Sox for OF Dylan Campbell and INF Jose Colmenares.
Hill was likely going to be designated for assignment by the White Sox with Everson Pereira returning on Thursday, so they opted to flip him for anything they could get at this point. The 30-year-old outfielder has hit .213/.284/.375 with four homers, eight RBI and seven stolen bases in 90 plate appearances with the White Sox this season. He’ll add insurance for the Phillies in the event that Adolis Garcia (shoulder) requires a trip to the injured list.
  • CWS Right Fielder #28
White Sox activated OF Everson Pereira from the 10-day injured list.
The 25-year-old outfielder had been shelved since the end of April due to a right pectoral strain. He made it through a short rehab assignment without any issues though and is ready to rejoin the White Sox. He returns to a .250/.310/.453 slash line with three homers and seven RBI through his first 71 plate appearances. If he regains regular playing time, he remains an intriguing option in deeper mixed leagues.
