Cardinals selected the contract of INF Juniel Querecuto from Triple-A Memphis.
That’s not Taylor Motter. Querecuto, who will turn 31 next week, is back in the majors for first time since 2016, when he got to play in four games for the Rays. He hit .269/.343/.418 with 13 homers and 12 steals for Memphis. The Cardinals will have him occupy a utility role.

Matthew Boyd (knee, shoulder) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday.
The Cubs will determine his next steps following the session. Boyd’s return from the injured list was scuttled late last week due to shoulder soreness. The 35-year-old has been working his way back from knee surgery that he underwent back in early May. It’s starting to feel like he’ll need at least one minor league rehab start before rejoining Chicago’s rotation.

MLB Sunday Leadoff features the Arizona Diamondbacks hosting the Minnesota Twins. Tune into NBC and Peacock at 3 P.M ET.
  • ATH Starting Pitcher #19
Athletics recalled RHP Luis Morales from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Morales has always been an intriguing arm, but he’s struggled to throw strikes in the majors this season. The hard-throwing 23-year-old will presumably operate in long relief for the Athletics after showing some promise in shorter bursts out of the bullpen at the Triple-A level recently. He can be ignored in all fantasy formats at this stage of his development.
  • ATH Relief Pitcher #66
Athletics optioned LHP Brady Basso to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Basso surrendered four runs over 1 2/3 innings during Sunday’s lopsided defeat at the hands of the Rockies in Las Vegas. The 28-year-old has posted an abysmal 12.46 ERA across 4 1/3 innings at the highest level this season.
  • LAA Left Fielder #53
Wade Meckler (head) is back in the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Diamondbacks.
Mecker made a precautionary exit from Sunday’s game against the Rays following an awkward collision with the left-field wall. The 26-year-old appears to have avoided serious injury and is back in there without missing any time.
  • SD Relief Pitcher #97
Ron Marinaccio has received a three-game suspension for intentionally hitting Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson with a pitch over the weekend.
Marinaccio has elected to appeal the suspension and will continue pitching until that process unfolds. Padres manager Craig Stammen has also been handed a one-game suspension, which he will serve during Monday’s series opener against the Cardinals. Marinaccio plunked Henderson during the ninth inning of Saturday’s game, which led to him being tossed from the contest.
  • SEA Catcher #29
Cal Raleigh (oblique) told The Seattle Times that he’ll be activated from the injured list for Tuesday’s series opener against the Orioles.
Raleigh will rejoin Seattle’s lineup following a one-month absence due to a right oblique strain that put him on the injured list for the first time in his six-year career. The 29-year-old slugging backstop went 6-for-14 with five homers across four games for Triple-A Tacoma on a brief minor league rehab assignment. It’s possible the time away and out of the spotlight enabled Raleigh to rediscover last year’s record-setting form, which makes him an obvious buy-low candidate in all fantasy leagues.
  • SEA 3rd Baseman #16
Mariners optioned 1B/3B Patrick Wisdom to Triple-A Tacoma.
The move paves the way for Cal Raleigh to return from the injured list for Tuesday’s series opener against Baltimore. Wisdom hit .182 (5-for-41) with one homer and four RBI during a 15-game stint with Seattle.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher #46
Mariners sent RHP Domingo González outright to Triple-A Tacoma.
González went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last week. The 26-year-old allowed four runs over 7 2/3 innings during his time with Seattle. He’ll presumably stick around as organizational relief depth on the doorstep of the majors.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher
Angels selected the contract of RHP Brett Kerry from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Kerry earns his first promotion to the big leagues after posting a 5.92 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and 59/21 K/BB ratio across 62 1/3 innings across 14 appearances (11 starts) at the Triple-A level this season. He’ll presumably operate in a swingman-type role out of the Angels’ bullpen. There’s a chance he moves into the rotation with Grayson Rodriguez (back) on the injured list.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #65
Angels recalled RHP José Fermin from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Fermin returns to Los Angeles bullpen with starter Grayson Rodriguez hitting the injured list prior to Monday’s game against the Diamondbacks. The 24-year-old has posted an underwhelming 5.40 ERA and 18/13 K/BB ratio across 15 innings for the Angels this season.
