Brewers designated INF/OF Brian Anderson for assignment.
The 30-year-old got off to a strong start to the season, hitting .255/.330/.459 with five home runs, 16 runs scored, and 20 RBI in his first 28 games. Yet, he wasn’t able to maintain that level, finishing this season with a .226/.310/.368 triple slash with nine home runs, 38 runs, and 40 RBI. The Brewers decided to let him go in order to make room for outfield prospect Garrett Mitchell to be reinstated from the 60-day IL. Given Anderson’s defensive versatility and track record of modest success, he should get another chance to make a team out of spring training next year.
