Jack Suwinski had a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth as the Pirates defeated the Marlins 3-0 on Sunday.
All of the game’s runs came in the bottom of the eighth, as Miguel Andujar singled in the first run before Suwinski provided insurance. It was a surprise to see Suwinski in the lineup today, as the Pirates were facing a lefty and were sitting their other two best hitters. Suwinski did go hitless against Ryan Weathers, but he came through late after the Marlins turned to a righty. He ends the year at .224/.339/.454. His issues against lefties aren’t going away, but he’s certainly still valuable to the Pirates as a platoon player.
