Moreno was hit square in the back of the head by Turang’s follow through as he went down swinging against Zac Gallen in the second inning. He finished the inning — after a lengthy consultation with the team’s training staff — but he was ultimately replaced by Jose Herrera when the Diamondbacks took the field for the third inning. It’s a brutal blow for the Diamondbacks on many levels, as Moreno is an elite offensive and defensive backstop and is a tremendous on-field leader for the Snakes as well. He’ll presumably be put through the concussion protocol.

Nicolas was acquired at the start of March for Tyler Calihan, and the 27-year-old will somewhat surprisingly not open the year as a part of the Cincinnat bullpen. It’s likely he’ll be one of the first arms up when the Reds need reinforcement.

Pereda will provide some depth behind the plate in Tacoma. Joe performed admirably this spring, and if he doesn’t report to Triple-A, there could be interest in his bat on the open market.

Song was able to participate in a Triple-A game Sunday. The infielder will begin the season on the injured list, but it’s an encouraging sign that he’s able to participate in exhibition games. He’ll likely begin a rehab assigment shortly after the start of the year, and could help San Diego by the end of April.

An efficient Williams got 15 outs with 64 pitches today, never throwing more than 17 in an inning. He ends the spring 2-1 with a 4.58 ERA and a 19/2 K/BB in 17 2/3 innings, and he’ll make his first regular-season start Friday in Seattle. Last year, he was 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA in his two starts against the Mariners.

The 24-year-old DeLauter is sitting at .429/.500/.657 with a 4/5 K/BB in 40 plate appearances. He’s made eight of his nine starts in the field in right, so it looks like that’ll be his primary spot in the regular season. Interesting is that he’ll probably wind up seeing a fair amount of time against lefties, given the makeup of the rest of the Guardians’ roster. It would have made sense for the Guardians to keep Stuart Fairchild to supplement him versus southpaws, but another lefty, CJ Kayfus, seems poised to get that spot.

Martinez, one of the AL’s worst players in hitting .224/.269/.359 in 484 plate appearances and playing below average outfield defense last season, is going to make the Guardians and might be in line for quite a bit of time initially with George Valera on the IL. He’s hit .350/.395/.850 this spring, with an average EV up about seven mph from last year’s mark of 97.1 mph. It might be a good sign, but he’s still only an option in deep AL-only leagues right now.

There was a little speculation that the Reds might send down Marte in order to open up time for others, but he’s set to return to his spot as the team’s everyday right fielder. The 15/1 K/BB this spring is ugly, but he’s hit .255 and slugged .569 with his four homers and four doubles. A 20/20 season is possible, though he hasn’t attempted a steal this spring after going 10-for-13 in his 90 major league games last year.

Ritter homered to center in the fifth, with the roundtripper travelling an estimated 427 feet. The 25-year-old has performed exceptionally this spring, and it’s hard to imagine he hasn’t enough enough to earn a roster spot with Colorado to open the 2026 campaign. He’s someone worth keeping an eye on in NL-only formats.

Rooker probably did enough this spring to make the A’s. The 31-year-old has gone deep five times in the Cactus League with a .761 slugging percentage. It won’t be an upset at all if Rooker is a top ten outfielder in 2026.

Eisert will likely be one of the first relievers back up for Chicago when they need bullpen help. The White Sox are going to need a lot of bullpen help.
