Reds sent RHP Justin Dunn outright to Triple-A Louisville.
Dunn wound up missing the entire 2023 season due to shoulder woes — and ultimately underwent surgery in early September to repair the anterior capsule in his right shoulder. It remains unclear how long he’ll be sidelined of if he’ll be ready to work in some capacity during spring training.

Astros signed LHP Tom Cosgrove to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Cosgrove, 29, excelled for the Padres in his major league debut in 2023, throwing 51 1/3 innings with a 1.75 ERA, but with his velocity in decline, he’s given up 20 runs in 18 2/3 innings in the majors in the two seasons since. He doesn’t figure to win a bullpen spot out of spring training.
What's in store for the Nationals without Gore?
Eric Samulski reveals the "names to know" among the five prospects the Nationals received from the Texas Rangers in exchange for pitcher MacKenzie Gore and his 'considerable upside.'
  • KC Relief Pitcher #33
Royals signed RHP Eli Morgan to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Another veteran reliever for a team that just signed Héctor Neris. Morgan, 29, missed most of last season with elbow troubles, though not before he gave up 10 runs in 7 1/3 innings for the Cubs in April. He was much more successful in Cleveland the previous three seasons, posting a 3.27 ERA and a 181/48 K/BB in 176 innings.
  • SF Starting Pitcher #66
The Astros are acquiring Kai-Wei Teng from the Giants for Jancel Villareal, according to The Athletic’s Chandler Rome.
For the Giants, this is about freeing up a spot on the 40-man to make room for Harrison Bader, and in return, they’ll get a 21-year-old catcher. The Astros will DFA J.P. France to make room for Teng.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #80
Dodgers signed RHP Ryder Ryan to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Ryan, 30, had a 5.66 ERA in 20 2/3 innings for the Pirates in 2024 and then spent all of last season with the club’s Triple-A team, finishing with a 4.73 ERA and a 61/38 K/BB in 72 1/3 innings. He’ll probably share a roster spot with younger brother River on the Dodgers’ Triple-A team this year.
  • MIL Relief Pitcher #40
Brewers signed RHP Jacob Waguespack to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The Rays thought they had something interesting in Waguespack a couple of years ago, but he went on to miss most of 2024 with shoulder issues and he didn’t impress them enough in the minors to get a chance last season. He wound up with a 2.45 ERA and a 31/11 K/BB in 33 innings as a Triple-A reliever, with the last 10 of his 25 appearances coming after the Phillies picked him up. He’ll be a long shot to win a spot in the Milwaukee pen this spring.
  • NYM Catcher #15
Mets signed C Austin Barnes to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 36-year-old backstop saw just 44 plate appearances with the Dodgers during the 2025 campaign before being released in May. He then signed with the Giants at the end of June and spent the remainder of the season at the Triple-A level. He’ll add quality catching depth for the Mets and can be ignored for fantasy purposes.
  • WSH Catcher #11
Nationals designated C/INF Mickey Gasper for assignment.
The versatile 30-year-old was just claimed off of waivers from the Twins last week, but he’ll head back into roster uncertainty after the Nationals needed to clear a 40-man roster spot for Richard Lovelady on Thursday. While Gasper has had continued success at the Triple-A level, he has struggled to a .133/.250/.195 slash line with a 28/14 K/BB ratio over 133 plate appearances at the big league level over the past two seasons.
  • WSH Relief Pitcher #57
Nationals claimed LHP Richard Lovelady off of waivers from the Mets.
Lovelady was inked to a one-year contract as a free agent in October, but the Mets attempted to sneak him through waivers this week as they needed to clear room on their 40-man roster. The 30-year-old left-hander posted an 8.49 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and a 12/6 K/BB ratio over 11 2/3 innings in 10 appearances between the Blue Jays and Mets in 2025.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #27
Padres signed LHP Marco Gonzales to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 33-year-old southpaw will earn $1.5 million if he makes the Padres’ roster and can earn up to an additional $1 million in incentives. Gonzales didn’t pitch at all during the 2025 season while recovering from flexor tendon surgery. He’s now fully recovered and should be a full go for the start of spring training. If healthy, he makes for a nice depth signing for the Padres.
  • ARI Relief Pitcher #58
Diamondbacks signed RHP Derek Law to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Law, 35, missed the entire 2025 season after undergoing surgery to repair a tear in his flexor tendon. He’s expected to be ready to return in April or May. He’ll earn $1.5 million if he makes the Diamondbacks’ active roster and can earn up to an additional $500,000 in incentives. Given his success in the two years before the injury, it makes for a nice low-risk signing for the Diamondbacks.
