Braves signed RHP Reynaldo López to a three-year, $30 million contract with a club option for 2024.
Now they have to sign Lucas Giolito, too... those are the rules. Even though he’s had some consistency issues and has little experience closing, López, 29, was considered one of the top handful of relievers available this offseason, and the Braves did well to get him as an elite setup option ahead of closer Raisel Iglesias. He had a 3.27 ERA and an 83/34 K/BB ratio in 66 innings with the White Sox, Angels and Guardians last season. He’s set to make $4 million next season and $11 million in 2025 and 2026. He’ll get either $8 million or a $4 million buyout in 2027.
