Baseball America selected the Texas Rangers as the 2023 Organization of the Year.
It’s not really a surprise given that the Rangers won the World Series, but J.J Cooper of Baseball America said they were not just picking based on that. “This is an award that looks at the totality of an organization’s baseball operations. The Rangers have been adept at signing free agents who had made an impact, but they’ve also succeeded in adding talent in trades and have had success in landing draftees like Evan Carter and Wyatt Langford.” This is the second time the Rangers have been selected as the Organization of the Year, last winning in 1989.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Carlos Rodón (elbow) will likely make his season debut against the Brewers on Sunday.
Boone wouldn’t fully commit to it happening, but it sounds like Rodón will make his return to New York’s rotation after missing six weeks at the outset of the year working his way back from offseason elbow surgery. The 33-year-old southpaw allowed six runs and threw 83 pitches in his final minor league rehab start for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday night. It’s worth noting that rookie starter Elmer Rodríguez was also shipped back to the minors on Tuesday evening, clearing a rotation spot.
Can Okamoto turn hot streak into consistency?
Kazuma Okamoto is scorching the ball. What does that mean for his long-term fantasy abseball outlook?
  • KC Starting Pitcher #61
Royals recalled RHP Eric Cerantola from Triple-A Omaha.
Cerantola receives his first call up to the big leagues to provide Kansas City with some additional bullpen depth. The 26-year-old righty has posted a solid 1.42 ERA and 18/6 K/BB ratio across 12 2/3 innings for Triple-A Omaha this season. He’ll likely operate in middle relief situatuins.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #32
Royals optioned RHP Stephen Kolek to Triple-A Omaha.
Kolek heads back to the minors after a solid effort where he allowed three runs over six innings against the Guardians in a spot start on Tuesday in place of an injured Noah Cameron (back). It sounds like Kansas City is going to stick with Cameron this weekend instead of letting Kolek take the ball again. That could change if the back issue flares up again.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #48
White Sox activated RHP Jonathan Cannon from the 15-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte.
Cannon will remain stationed on the doorstep of the majors as organizational depth after completing a rehab assignment. The 25-year-old has been on the shelf since mid-April with hip inflammation.
  • CWS Relief Pitcher #38
White Sox activated LHP Chris Murphy from the 15-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte.
Murphy will remain back in the minors after wrapping up a rehab assignment. The 27-year-old southpaw has been out since early April recovering from an elbow impingement.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #70
Reds selected the contract of RHP Tejay Antone from Triple-A Louisville.
Antone, who has undergone three Tommy John surgeries in his career, deserves a ton of credit just for making it back to the majors at all given everything he’s been through. The 32-year-old reliever last pitched in the big leagues for the Reds back in 2024. He’ll operate in middle relief for Cincinnati’s injury-depleted bullpen.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #52
Reds activated RHP Pierce Johnson from the bereavement list.
Johnson returns to Cincinnati’s bullpen after a couple games away from the club on bereavement leave. The well-traveled 34-year-old has made 15 appearances in his Reds debut, posting a respectable 4.15 ERA over 13 innings during that span.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #61
Reds optioned RHP Chase Petty to Triple-A Louisville.
Petty performed admirably in a spot start against the Cubs earlier this week, allowing three runs over 5 2/3 innings while not factoring into the decision. The 23-year-old’s biggest highlight was a nifty, athletic play off the mound, fielding a chopper up the third-base line and delivering an on-target throw to first. He’ll be back at some point later this summer when the Reds need another starter.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #15
Reds placed RHP Emilio Pagán on the 15-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.
Pagán has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 hamstring strain and is expected to miss roughly 4-8 weeks. The -year-old stopper told reporters he thought he tore his hamstring and that his season was over when he hobbled off the mound after throwing a pitch during Tuesday’s relief appearance against the Cubs at Wrigley Field. He’s facing an extended absence, but his season isn’t over. It’ll likely be either Tony Santillan or Graham Ashcraft taking over the closer role for Cincinnati during his absence.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #55
Reds transferred LHP Brandon Williamson to the 60-day injured list.
The procedural move frees up a spot on Cincinnati’s 40-man roster for reliever Tejay Antone. Williamson is facing an extended absence after hitting the shelf with shoulder fatigue last week. He’s battled shoulder issues in the past, so the level of concern here is fairly high. He’ll be out until at least after the All-Star break in July.
