Evan White was traded from the Mariners to the Braves in a five-player deal.

White, who signed a six-year, $24 million deal prior to his major league debut with the Mariners, is just a salary dump at this point. The 27-year-old has dealt with several injuries, and he’s coming off hip surgery after playing in just two games last season. Perhaps there’s still some chance that he’ll contribute to a major league team at some point, but he’s not going to be in Atlanta’s plans. In moving him, the Mariners are saving $17 million.

Steven Kwan (neck) returned to the Guardians’ starting lineup for Sunday’s battle against the Blue Jays.

Kwan was a late scratch from Saturday’s lineup due to stiffness in his neck, it appears to have been only a minor issue though. He’s back in center field and perched atop the Guardians’ lineup for Sunday’s matchup against Jays’ left-hander Patrick Corbin.

Andrés Giménez is absent from the Blue Jays’ starting lineup for Sunday afternoon’s tilt against the Guardians.

It looks to be a regular day of rest for the 27-year-old infielder. Ernie Clement will cover shortstop and bat leadoff in his absence while Davis Schneider will make a start at second base and bat eighth for the Jays against Guardians’ right-hander Slade Cecconi.

Albert Suárez

Orioles designated RHP Albert Suárez for assignment.

Someone needed to get the boot from the Orioles’ bullpen to accommodate the return of Ryan Helsley on Sunday, but it’s a bit surprising to see Suárez go. The 36-year-old hurler posted a respectable 3.46 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 6/5 K/BB ratio over 13 innings in his five appearances out of the O’s bullpen. With so many teams in need of quality bullpen arms, he could attract some interest on waivers.

Ryan Helsley

Orioles activated RHP Ryan Helsley from the family medical emergency list.

Helsley had been away from the team since Wednesday. He’ll be active and available out of the O’s bullpen for Sunday’s showdown against the Red Sox should a save situation arise. Albert Suarez was designated for assignment in a corresponding move on Sunday.

Javier Báez

Javier Báez is not in the Tigers’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Reds in Cincinnati.

It appears to be nothing more than a routine day of rest for the versatile 33-year-old. Báez is off to a decent start offensively in 2026, slashing .267/.291/.413 with a pair of homers, six RBI and one stolen base in his first 79 plate appearances. Matt Vierling will start in his place in center field and bat seventh against Rhett Lowder and the Reds on Sunday.

Trevor Martin

Rays optioned RHP Trevor Martin to Triple-A Durham.

With Casey Legumina joining the team’s active roster on Sunday, someone needed to go to make room in the bullpen and unfortunately Martin was the odd man out this time around. The 25-year-old hurler registered a 6.23 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and a 4/1 K/BB ratio over 4 1/3 innings in his three appearances with the Rays. He’ll continue to function as extra bullpen depth at the Triple-A level.

P.J. Higgins

Reds optioned C P.J. Higgins to Triple-A Louisville.

With Jose Trevino (back) returning from the injured list on Sunday, Higgins will return back to his regular role at Triple-A Louisville. Higgins, 32, hit .200 (2-for-10) with one RBI and a 4/1 K/BB ratio in 12 plate appearances during his stay with the big league club.

Reds activated C Jose Trevino from the 10-day injured list.

The 33-year-old backstop had been shelved since April 8 due to a thoracic spine strain. He’ll resume his role as the backup behind Tyler Stephenson. P.J. Higgins was optioned back to Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move on Sunday.

Austin Slater has elected free agency.

The 33-year-old outfielder was designated for assignment on Wednesday. He passed through waivers unclaimed and rather than accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Jacksonville, he’ll explore the open market instead. Slater hit just .174 (4-for-23) with one RBI and one stolen base in his limited action with the Marlins.

Phil Maton

CHC Relief Pitcher #88

Cubs’ manager Craig Counsell told reporters on Saturday that Phil Maton will be activated from the injured list in the next day or two.

The right-hander is already with the team in Los Angeles and will either be activated on Sunday or Monday. Maton struggled through his first five outings with the team before landing on the injured list with right knee tendinitis on April 10. Given the current state of the Cubs’ bullpen though, he’ll almost immediately be thrust into high-leverage situations upon his return. He could be worth a look for those speculating on saves in deeper leagues.
