Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports that the Tigers have signed manager A.J. Hinch to a long-term contract extension.
No word yet on the duration or the financials, but Hinch was already signed through the 2025 season, so it stands to reason that he’ll be in Motown for the foreseeable future. The 49-year-old skipper is coming off of his best season in his three years with the Tigers — going 78-84 and finishing in second place in the vaunted American League Central. They’re not completely out of their rebuilding process just yet, but expect the Tigers to play competitive baseball in 2024.
