Brosseau began the 2023 season with the Brewers, hitting .205/.256/.397 in 78 plate appearances before being sent to the minors and then designated for assignment. He then finished the season with the Chiba Lotte Marines in the Korean Baseball Organization. At 29-years-old, Brosseau will now get another shot with the Royals after hitting .242/.313/.428 with 26 homers and seven steals across 241 MLB games since 2019. Brosseau has been particularly adept against lefties in his career, slashing .265/.326/.464 with a .199 ISO in 347 career at-bats, so perhaps his best path to being on the MLB roster again will be as a platoon bat against lefties.

Dobbins is throwing, but the Cardinals didn’t want to risk a setback by having him pitch in games this spring. He’s at least a month away from being a candidate for the team’s rotation.

That’s unexpected. It’d been clear for a couple of weeks that Nootbaar would open up on the IL following his heel surgeries, but it was supposed to be the 10-day. Nootbaar has been hitting and throwing since the beginning of the spring and recently resumed running, but we take it that didn’t go as well as hoped. Nathan Church, Thomas Saggese and José Fermín will divvy up his at-bats for at least the first two months.

Teel is back catching and doing some light running after getting hurt running the bases in the WBC. It’s possible he’ll return as soon as his 10 days are up. Until then, Edgar Quero will do most of the catching.

Baldwin likely would have played pretty regularly for the White Sox at the start of the year, but his elbow started bothering him while throwing, which is something he’s dealt with previously. It sounds like he’ll miss at least the first few weeks, opening up extra at-bats for Luisangel Acuña and Lenyn Sosa.

Vasil was injured on March 14 and will soon have Tommy John surgery that will cost him all of 2026 and, most likely, the first part of 2027.

Thorpe underwent Tommy John surgery a year ago and had a little bump in the road in dealing with tendinitis earlier this spring. Still, he’s been throwing regularly this month and could go on a rehab assignment in the coming weeks.

Berroa, once thought of as perhaps the White Sox’s closer of the future, is back throwing off a mound 12 1/2 months after Tommy John and could begin a rehab assignment before the end of April. He’ll likely be optioned to Triple-A once that rehab assignment is complete.

We thought the White Sox still held some fondness for Lee, but picking up Reese McGuire to replace him showed that that wasn’t really the case. Lee would almost surely get claimed off waivers if he had options left and could be stashed in Triple-A, but as is, it seems more likely that he’ll clear.

Mead failed to make the White Sox while hitting .233/.258/.500 this spring. His exit velocities as a major leaguer just haven’t been very promising at all, and he’s never contributed much with the glove. Given the ability he showed offensively in the minors, perhaps there’s still something here to be fixed, but unless the Nationals are interested, it seems pretty likely that he’ll clear waivers.

Strider remains without a definitive return timeline after suffering an oblique strain during the late stages of spring training. The 27-year-old former fantasy ace has been one of the most polarizing arms in the entire fantasy landscape this spring. There should be a clearer timetable for his return to Atlanta’s injury-plagued rotation once he’s cleared to resume throwing. His absence puts José Suarez in the rotation with Didier Fuentes functioning as a multi-inning relief weapon.
