  • CWS Catcher #15
White Sox signed C Martín Maldonado to a one-year, $4.25 million contract.
As previously reported, the deal also includes a club option for the 2025 season. The 37-year-old backstop remains one of the top defensive catchers in the business and he’ll be a major asset for the White Sox’ young pitching staff. Fantasy managers still shouldn’t expect much from an offensive standpoint.
  • KC Shortstop #7
Bobby Witt Jr. went 3-for-4 in a loss to the Giants on Friday.
  • SF Center Fielder #17
Heliot Ramos doubled and tripled to help the Giants to a 2-1 win over the Royals on Friday.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #75
Camilo Doval gave up a run but still got a save Friday against the Royals.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #52
Michael Wacha held the Royals to two runs in 5 2/3 innings, but still took a loss to the Giants on Friday
  • SF Starting Pitcher
Mason Black didn’t allow an earned run over 5 2/3 innings to get a win over the Royals on Friday.
  • PHI Third Baseman #28
Alec Bohm went 4-for-5 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs scored in a 12-2 beatdown over the Mets on Friday.
You wouldn’t know it from looking at the box score, but Bohm made a critical baserunning blunder early in this game that looked like it could’ve proved vital at the time. He was tagged out at home after the ball squirted away from mets’ catcher Luis Torrens following a Nick Castellanos RBI double. It was just 2-2 and Bohm looked dejected. Then, he socked a three-run home run in his next at-bat and the rout was on. This was his first multi-hit game since returning from the injured list last week as he looks to finish out his regular season on a high note.
  • NYM Shortstop #11
Jose Iglesias went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double on Friday against the Phillies.
Iglesias was practically the extent of the Mets’ offense in this one with a lead-off home run and wound up with two of their four hits, including the only two that went for extra bases. He’s been nothing short of a revelation for New York this season, first steadying the bottom of their order, releasing a number one hit single, then becoming their full-time second baseman after Jeff McNeil went out with an injury, and now filling in for Francisco Lindor atop their order. He’s responded with a .333 batting average which is the highest by any player in the National League with at least 250 plate appearances.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #61
Cristopher Sánchez allowed three hits, two runs, and five walks with seven strikeouts over five innings in a win over the Mets on Friday.
Sánchez, like David Peterson, was tasked with facing this same Mets lineup for the second straight start and it felt like they were ready for him after putting up two runs in the first inning. Then, he settled in nicely, despite a heap of walks, and hung on just long enough to earn the win. There was one tense moment even after the Phillies built up an 8-2 lead when Sánchez walked Starling Marte and Mark Vientos to load the bases for Pete Alonso. He got tough, struck out Alonso on three pitches, and ended his night on a high note. Sánchez is scheduled to face the Cubs next in his final start of the regular season.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #23
David Peterson surrendered eight hits and four earned runs across 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Phillies on Friday.
This game started well for Peterson who struck out Kyle Schwaber and Bryce Harper in the first inning and amassed 10 total swings-and-misses in the first two. Yet, the Phillies kept making consistently hard contact and the floodgates opened in the fourth when they hit three straight balls over 106 MPH and chased Peterson after five runs were on the board. This was his second straight outing against the Phillies which is an incredibly difficult task and resulted in his shortest outing of the season. He’s lined up to face the Braves in Atlanta next time out.
  • SEA Third Baseman #4
Josh Rojas hit a solo homer and drove in two runs in a win over the Rangers on Friday.
Rojas hit a solo homer off Jacob deGrom to give Seattle a 1-0 lead. That’s his first homer since August 18, and the eighth of the season. Hopefully managers realized his red-hot start over the first month wasn’t sustainable, because even with it he’s hitting .227/.307/.342.
