The White Sox placed Jesse Scholtens on the 60-day IL with a torn UCL.

Scholtens will have Tommy John surgery on Friday. The decision allows newly acquired LHP Bailey Horn to get on the 40-man roster. Scholtens appeared in 26 games (11 starts) for the White Sox last season and posted a 5.29 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 58/30 K/BB ratio. He was placed on the injured list toward the end of the season with a calf strain but this new elbow injury ultimately will keep him on the sidelines until 2025.

Tommy Edman (ankle) has begun swinging in the batting cage.

Edman has begun swinging, but the expectation is that the 30-year-old won’t be able to play in spring training games. Edman will open the 2026 season on the injured list, but should return in the early months to a starting role.

Jurickson Profar

ATL Left Fielder #7
Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that Jurickson Profar is facing a 162-game suspension after testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug.

Profar will get the full-season ban for testing positive for a PED for the second time. The 33-year-old missed 80 games due to suspension in 2025 and hit .243/.353/.434 with 14 homers in his 318 at-bats. Mike Yastrzemski and Eli White seem likely to platoon with Profar unavailable in 2026, but it’s possible Atlanta could look outside the organization.

Brandon Lockridge

MIL Left Fielder #20

Brandon Lockridge has been out of the lineup since February 26 with a contusion on his rotator cuff.

Lockridge picked up the injury while diving back to the bag during the Cactus League game. The 28-year-old should resume throwing soon, and the hope is to get him back into games before the end of the week.

Royce Lewis

MIN 3rd Baseman #23

Royce Lewis (oblique) is hitting leadoff and playing third base Tuesday against the Rays.

Lewis was scratched with tightness in his side Thursday, but the MRI on his oblique revealed all was good. The 26-year-old will be an everyday option as long as he can stay on the field in 2026.

Thomas White

MIA Starting Pitcher

Marlins reassigned LHP Thomas White to minor league camp.

White was recently diagnosed with a Grade 1 oblique strain, but he wasn’t likely to make the club anyway. The left-hander does stand a good chance of joining the Marlins at some point in 2026, and his ability to miss bats makes him worth roster consideration whenever that takes place.

Chayce McDermott

BAL Pitcher #59

Optioned RHP Chayce McDermott to minor league camp. Reassigned RHP Jeisson Cabrera, INF Payton Eeles, RHP Keagan Gillies, and RHP Richard Guasch to minor league camp.

McDermott will be a depth piece for Baltimore in 2026. He was hit hard in his limited time with the O’s in 2025 as seen in 15 runs in 8 2/3 innings, but the right-hander isn’t far removed from being considered one of the better pitching prospects in the Orioles’ system.

J.P. Crawford

SEA Infield #3

J.P. Crawford (shoulder) is hitting fifth as the designated hitter Wednesday against the Angels.

Crawford will make his spring debut, albeit as the DH instead of his usual shortstop position. The 31-year-old has battled a “minor” shoulder issue ahd should be fine by the team the regular season rolls around. It’s likely Crawford’s last year as the starting shortstop for Seattle with Colt Emerson taking over in 2027.

Francisco Lindor

NYM Infield #12

Francisco Lindor (hand) played catch Monday.

Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that the hope is that Lindor will be able to take batting practice Wednesday. The star shortstop underwent hamata bone surgery in the offeseason, and recently had his stitches removed. There’s a good chance Lindor will be ready for the start of the regular season, and if not, it should be a relatively short stint on the injured list to begin 2026.

Nolan McLean

NYM Starting Pitcher #26

Nolan McLean hasn’t reported to camp with Team USA as of yet due to illness.

McLean is scheduled to start against Italy on Monday, but the right-hander will obviously need to get healthy for that to take place. The good news for fantasy managers is that there’s no reason to think McLean won’t be ready for the start of the regular season.
