  • NYM Second Baseman #1
Jeff McNeil is dealing with a left biceps injury.
MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo adds that McNeil tweaked his left bicep earlier this week and the Mets don’t believe it’s a serious issue. The 31-year-old, who is coming back from an offseason left elbow issue, will be temporarily delayed, but he doesn’t appear to be in danger of missing Opening Day.
  • DET Center Fielder #60
Tigers recalled OF Akil Baddoo from Triple-A Toledo.
The Tigers have been struggling for offense, and the 25-year-old outfielder has been raking at the Triple-A level, so this move makes sense. On the season, he’s slashing .257/.366/.478 with four homers, 16 RBI and 11 stolen bases through his first 30 games. He’s always possessed an intriguing blend of power and speed, the only thing standing in the way of potential mixed league fantasy value now is playing time.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #18
Tigers placed RHP Kenta Maeda on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 8, with a viral illness.
The Tigers are the most recent team to be hit by a viral illness that has been going around and it will cause Maeda to miss his scheduled start against the Marlins on Monday. Expect Matt Manning to be summoned from Triple-A Toledo to start in his place for that one. Akil Baddoo was recalled in a corresponding move on Saturday.
  • NYM Left Fielder #9
The Mets announced that Brandon Nimmo was pulled from Saturday’s ballgame against the Braves due to right intercostal irritation.
Nimmo sustained the injury on an uncomfortable looking swing. While a lot will depend on how he wakes up feeling on Sunday, there’s a decent chance that he’ll be heading to the injured list. Be sure to check back on his status prior to Sunday’s game.
  • SD First Baseman #9
Jake Cronenworth is not in the Padres’ starting lineup for Saturday night’s tilt against the Dodgers.
A night after Cronenworth saw his 12-game hitting streak snapped, he’ll get a breather with left-hander James Paxton toeing the slab for the Dodgers. Luis Arraez will cover for him at first base while Jurickson Profar moves up to the third spot in the Padres’ lineup.
  • NYM Left Fielder #9
Brandon Nimmo was removed from Saturday’s contest against the Braves due to an apparent injury.
Nimmo appeared to tweak something in his side on a check swing, then had a couple of very awkward swings afterwards before leaving the game. He’ll likely head for further evaluation. Expect the Mets to provide an update on his status shortly.
  • COL Third Baseman #22
Nolan Jones (back) will join Triple-A Albuquerque to begin a minor league rehab assignment next week.
Kris Bryant (back) will start his rehab assignment on Tuesday, with Jones likely a day or two behind him. Rockies’ manager Bud Black said Sunday that both injured outfielders could return to the team at some point during their upcoming road trip.
  • COL Third Baseman #23
Kris Bryant (back) is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.
Bryant has been sidelined since mid-April due to a lower back strain. He’s going to need at least a couple of games there to get his timing back, but if all goes well he could return to the Rockies’ lineup fairly quickly. Rockies’ skipper Bud Black told reporters on Saturday that Bryant should join the team at some point during their upcoming road trip.
  • OAK Starting Pitcher #68
Athletics recalled RHP Joey Estes from Triple-A Las Vegas.
As expected, the 22-year-old hurler will start for the Athletics on Saturday against the Mariners. He has struggled during his time at Triple-A this season — registering a cringe-inducing 6.04 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and a 26/10 K/BB ratio across 28 1/3 innings — but the M’s have been striking out at a record pace this season so perhaps there’s some streaming value to be mined in the deepest of leagues.
  • OAK Relief Pitcher #67
Athletics optioned LHP Easton Lucas to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Someone needed to get the boot for the A’s to clear a spot on the roster for Joey Estes on Saturday and Lucas was the odd-man out this time around. The 27-year-old southpaw posted an 11.57 ERA, 3.00 WHIP and a 6/2 K/BB ratio over 2 1/3 innings in two appearances with the Athletics.
  • STL Right Fielder #3
Dylan Carlson is not in the Cardinals’ starting lineup for Saturday’s matchup against the Brewers.
Carlson started each of the team’s previous two games, but he’ll catch a seat on the pine for Saturday’s battle against right-hander Freddy Peralta. Matt Carpenter will start and serve as the Cardinals’ designated hitter with Alec Burleson shifting to right field.
