Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports that the Blue Jays will acquire three prospects from the Red Sox in their trade for Danny Jansen.
Cutter Coffey is one of the prospects that will be joining the Jays in the deal. The 20-year-old shortstop was a second-round selection from the 2022 draft class. He has been excelling at High-A Greenville this season and possesses a high ceiling. No word on the other two prospects yet, but the deal should be announced shortly.

Rangers activated INF/OF Josh Smith from the 10-day injured list.
Smith returns to Texas’ infield mix after missing nearly six weeks. The 28-year-old hit the shelf with a glute strain back in early May but wound up being hospitalized for over one week viral meningitis during his rehabilitation process. The versatile 28-year-old has mostly played second base this season and was off to a slow start, hitting .217/.324/.239 with zero homers and two steals through 31 games.
Pasquantino headed to IL (hamate) amid struggles
Eric Samulski discusses Royals 1B Vinnie Pasquantino's offensive struggles amid his 10-day IL stint with a hamate bone fracture. Pasquantino is hitting .224 with just six home runs so far this season.
  • TEX Shortstop #5
Rangers placed SS Corey Seager on the 7-day concussion injured list.
Seager was set to miss his fourth consecutive game during Monday’s series opener against the Twins due to mild concussion symptoms, according to the club. The 32-year-old was involved in a home-plate collision last Thursday against the Red Sox and began experiencing symptoms afterwards. There is no timetable for his return at this juncture.
  • CHC Right Fielder #27
Seiya Suzuki (knee) is back in the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Rockies.
It’s an encouraging development to see Suzuki ready to roll, and likely to avoid a trip to the injured list, after being scratched from Sunday’s series finale against the Giants with right knee discomfort that resurfaced earlier in the weekend. He’s at DH and hitting cleanup on Monday night at Wrigley Field. The 31-year-old slugger missed time earlier this season with a PCL sprain in his right knee so it wouldn’t be surprising to see Chicago manage his workload carefully in the coming days. He’s in the midst of a 10-game hitting streak that dates back to June 3.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #38
Rockies activated RHP Victor Vodnik from the 15-day injured list.
Vodnik rejoins Colorado’s bullpen following a three-week absence due to nerve inflammation in his right elbow. The 26-year-old has allowed 16 earned runs over 18 innings of work this season. He’ll operate in low-leverage spots for the Rockies initially until he earns his way back in manager Warren Schaeffer’s metaphorical trust tree.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #63
Rockies optioned RHP Eiberson Castellano to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Castellano earns a ticket back to the minors after picking up a three-inning save during Colorado’s 23-9 bludgeoning of the Athletics on Sunday afternoon. The 25-year-old looked sharp in his big-league debut and should get a more extended look with the Rockies in a couple weeks.
  • COL Center Fielder #31
Jake McCarthy (illness) is back in the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Cubs.
McCarthy returns to Colorado’s lineup following a five-game absence due to an undisclosed illness. The 28-year-old outfielder made an appearance as a pinch-runner over the weekend against the Athletics in Las Vegas. He’s back in center field and hitting seventh on Monday night at Wrigley Field.
  • COL Shortstop #14
Ezequiel Tovar (calf) is back in the lineup for Monday’s game against the Cubs.
Tovar was held out of Colorado’s lineup for a pair of games against the Athletics in Las Vegas due to left calf soreness. He went 3-for-6 with an RBI during Sunday’s offensive explosion. The 24-year-old is back at shortstop and hitting fifth on Monday night at Wrigley Field.
  • CIN Designated Hitter #31
Nathaniel Lowe is on the bench for Monday’s series opener against the Mets.
Lowe takes a seat with Spencer Steer at the cold corner and rookie Sal Stewart at DH to face Mets starter Tobias Myers. The 30-year-old first baseman has cooled off recently, hitting .222 (6-for-27) with zero extra-base hits in 12 games since the start of June.
  • AZ Left Fielder #12
Diamondbacks activated OF Lourdes Gurriel Jr. from the 10-day injured list.
Gurriel returns to Arizona’s corner outfield rotation prior to Monday’s series opener against the Angels after missing three weeks with a hamstring strain. The 32-year-old veteran has hit .228/.284/.304 with one homer, 11 RBI and one steal in 25 games this season in his return from last year’s ACL surgery.
  • AZ Left Fielder #73
Diamondbacks optioned OF Ryan Waldschmidt to Triple-A Reno.
Waldschmidt returns to the minors with veteran Lourdes Gurriel Jr. back from the injured list for Monday’s showdown against the Angels. The 23-year-old top prospect arrived in the big leagues as an intriguing power/speed combo threat last month, but wound up hitting a pedestrian .259/.314/.357 with 11 runs scored, zero homers, eight RBI and five steals in 122 plate appearances over 33 games. He’ll need to show some growth from a plate skills perspective to reach his lofty fantasy ceiling, but the talent is there for Waldschmidt to provide sustained fantasy relevance at some point in the future.
