Morlando, an outfielder taken 16th overall out of high school last month, received just minor league one at-bat before being shut down.

Gonzalez started at second base and made some noise in his rehab debut as he works his way back from a shoulder issue that put him on the shelf to open the season. The 29-year-old lefty-masher figures to play regularly for the Red Sox once he’s gotten enough at-bats under his belt to return to Boston. There’s some deep-league fantasy appeal here since Gonzalez is likely to bat in the heart of the order once he makes it back to Fenway Park.

Houser’s 29-pitch first inning saw him give up a long homer to Drake Baldwin and another run on a Mauricio Dubón hit. Because it was such a short outing, the Giants could try putting Houser back into the pitching mix in a couple of days, if they see the need. If they stay with the current rotation, he’d pitch Sunday in Miami.

Woodruff threw 82 pitches while striking out five and only issuing one walk. The 33-year-old could potentially make another rehab start this weekend but he’s trending towards returning to Milwaukee’s rotation by the end of June.

It’ll be resumed on Wednesday afternoon in the second inning. The rain kept falling throughout the early stages of this contest at Truist Park and both teams waited through a nearly two-hour rain delay before the plug was finally pulled. Giants starter Adrian Houser allowed two runs in his lone inning of work while Atlanta’s Grant Holmes was charged with three runs over two innings. It’s also worth noting that Drake Baldwin launched a legendary 473-foot homer in his return from the injured list prior to the delay.

Cabrera left the contest with one out in the fifth inning with what appeared to be a recurrence of the blister issue that sent him to the injured list earlier this season. The 28-year-old was charged with three runs over 4 1/3 innings. He struck out three and also issued two walks. There should be an update on his status following the contest and whether he’ll make his next start against the Mets on Monday.

Washington receives the emergency last-minute call-up to sit on Seattle’s bench during Tuesday’s series opener against the Orioles with Randy Arozarena (hamstring) hitting the injured list and both Josh Naylor (shin, wrist) and Luke Raley (back) unavailable due to injuries. The 26-year-old outfielder will head back to the minors with Connor Joe coming up from Triple-A Tacoma prior to Wednesday’s contest. Even if he never makes it back in the future, Washington can always say that he put on a big-league uniform at least once in his career.

The move is now official. Arozarena heads to the injured list with a relatively mild hamstring issue while the Mariners deal with an avalanche of injuries to their roster, including Josh Naylor (shin, wrist) and Luke Raley (back). It’ll be Curtis Washington Jr. coming up from High-A Everett to take his spot on Seattle’s roster temporarily with Connor Joe on his way from Triple-A for Wednesday’s game. Fantasy managers should anticipate Arozarena making it back to Seattle before the end of June.

Schwarber ripped a line-drive into the right-field seats off Marlins starter Tyler Phillips in the fourth inning while making his first appearance at the cold corner since October 20, 2021. Amazingly he didn’t have a single ball hit in his direction during the contest. The 33-year-old power-hitter has just three round-trippers since the calendar flipped to June, but he’s hitting over .300 during that 14-game span. That’ll do.

Ruiz took Phillies starter Jesús Luzardo deep in the seventh inning to break up a potential shutout and supply Miami’s only runs of the one-sided affair. It was his fourth long ball of the season. The 27-year-old speedster has been on a roll lately, hitting .368 (7-for-19) with two homers and four steals since the start of June.

Luzardo came back to haunt his former club in this one, falling just shy of his third double-digit strikeout performance of the season. He carried a shutout into the seventh inning before surrendering a two-run homer to speedster Esteury Ruiz. The 28-year-old southpaw remains prone to the occasional meltdown, which makes him a frustrating pitcher to roster for fantasy purposes, but he’s allowed two earned runs or fewer in 10 of his 15 starts this season. He holds a pedestrian 4.20 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 97/27 K/BB ratio across 85 2/3 innings overall. He’ll face the Nationals in a road matchup his next time out on Monday to kick off a two-start week.
