Marlins sent LHP Jonathan Bermúdez outright to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Bermúdez was DFA’d on Saturday after allowing two runs in 3 2/3 innings for the Marlins.

Orioles re-signed RHP Albert Suárez to a minor league contract.
Suárez missed most of 2025 with a shoulder strain and then dealt with an elbow issue at the end of the year, making him a question mark going forward. The Orioles non-tendered him last month, but he’ll be back in camp and hopefully ready to compete for a spot, probably in middle relief. He has a 3.59 ERA in 25 starts and 12 relief appearances for the Orioles since returning to the majors in 2024.
Will Pirates make more moves this offseason?
James Schiano and Eric Samulski discuss the Pirates acquiring Jhostynxon Garcia and signing Gregory Soto, who appeared in 25 games with the Mets last season and struggles with "poor command" and a limited repertoire.
  • BAL Catcher #98
Orioles sent C Maverick Handley outright to Triple-A Norfolk.
Handley will be back with the Orioles as Triple-A catching depth. A defensive-minded backstop, he went 3-for-41 in 16 games in the majors last season. He’s a career .222/.341/.337 hitter over 374 games in the minors.
  • BAL Shortstop
Orioles signed INF/OF Willy Vasquez to a minor league contract.
The 24-year-old Vasquez, who spent the last six years in the Rays system, was limited to 44 games last season, hitting .256/.297/.359 in Double-A. He has experience all over the diamond, but he hasn’t yet showed the kind of bat to suggest he has any chance of becoming a major leaguer.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #24
Cubs re-signed LHP Caleb Thielbar to a one-year, $4.5 million contract with a mutual option for 2027.
He’ll get $4 million next season and then the $500,000 if his mutual option isn’t exercised (and it won’t be). Thielbar, who debuted with the Twins in 2013 and went four straight seasons from 2016-19 without making a major league appearance, will be making his highest salary ever at age 39. He had a 2.64 ERA and 25 holds last season in his first year with the Cubs.
  • NYM Catcher #3
Mets claimed C Drew Romo off waivers from the Orioles.
A 2020 first-round pick long thought to be the Rockies’ catcher of the future, Romo doesn’t seem especially promising offensively or defensively. The 24-year-old missed much of last season and hit .264/.329/.409 over his 60 games at Triple-A Albuquerque.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #82
Mets designated LHP Brandon Waddell for assignment.
Waddell had a 3.45 ERA in 31 1/3 innings for the Mets last season, but he still finished the year in the minors after being sent down on Sept. 2. That he’s out of options will decrease the chances of him being claimed on waivers, but someone still might want to grab him.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #41
Joe Ryan will pitch for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic.
Ryan joins Paul Skenes, Nolan McLean, Clay Holmes and Matthew Boyd as the currently known rotation options for Team USA. Griffin Jax, Garrett Whitlock and Garrett Cleavinger are expected to be a part of the bullpen.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #26
Nolan McLean is slated to pitch for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic.
Clay Holmes, too. While it’s exciting news, we don’t really love this idea for McLean, since it could add to the injury risk. Primarily a position player at Oklahoma State, McLean has seen his innings count jump from 33 in 2023 (the year he was drafted) to 110 in 2024 and to 162 last season. There haven’t been any red flags yet, but having the 24-year-old fully amped and facing, say, a loaded Dominican Republic lineup in March might not be the best thing.
  • ATL Right Fielder #13
Ronald Acuña Jr. went 3-for-5 with two steals for La Guaira of the Venezuelan Winter League on Tuesday.
Acuña now has 10 steals in 12 games in Venezuela, exceeding his total of nine in 95 major league games following his return from a torn ACL last season. That seems like a very good sign for his fantasy value.
  • CIN Shortstop #71
Edwin Arroyo finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a HBP in Tuesday’s Puerto Winter Rican League action.
Arroyo is 10-for-32 with four doubles and a triple so far, giving him a nice .853 OPS in a league in which has just a .617 OPS overall. The 22-year-old should be ready to move up to Triple-A next season after hitting .264/.345/.371 in Double-A in 2025. He’s not a particularly exciting fantasy prospect, since he lacks exceptional power or steal ability, but he might be the Reds’ shortstop in 2027 if the team wants to shift Elly De La Cruz elsewhere.
