Dylan Crews has been dropped to the seventh spot in the Nationals lineup for Friday’s game against the Pirates.

Crews hit seventh in his second big-league game Aug. 27, but he had led off every game since. CJ Abrams is back in that spot tonight. Crews has hit .216/.293/.432 in 41 plate appearances since his callup. Abrams is just 2-for-26 with one walk during the same span.

Jose Miranda

After homering and doubling Friday, Jose Miranda went 3-for-3 with four RBI in the Padres’ 10-3 rout of the Royals on Saturday.

Miranda wouldn’t seem to have much of a chance of making the Padres after the additions of Miguel Andujar and Nick Castellanos, but what if he keeps this up? Prior to a disastrous 2025 that saw him bat just .195 in Triple-A, the 27-year-old Miranda was a reasonably productive hitter for the Twins in both 2022 and ’24. If he’s recovered from that, he’s really not much different from Andujar as a player. Still, it’s going to take more than two games, of course.

Matt Waldron touched 94 mph on the gun while throwing two scoreless innings against the Royals.

94 isn’t remarkable for most major league pitchers, but Waldron has averaged 90 mph the last two years. Today, he was at 93 mph. The part-time knuckleballer entered camp as something of an afterthought after mostly struggling in Triple-A last year, but there’s still plenty to be decided in the San Diego rotation.

Ryan Bergert

KC Pitcher #38

Ryan Bergert, who finished last season on the shelf with an elbow strain, tossed a scoreless inning against the Padres on Saturday.

He threw only 12, but he averaged 95.6 mph with his fastball after coming in at 93.4 mph last season. Bergert, who was part of the Freddy Fermin deal at the deadline, had a 3.66 ERA and a solid 22.6% strikeout rate in 15 starts and four relief appearances for the Padres and Royals last season, but he’s probably out of the mix for a roster spot for now; the Royals’ rotation is set if everyone stays healthy, and Bailey Falter is out of options and set for a middle relief role.

Hyeseong Kim

LAD Infield #6

Hyeseong Kim went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs in a rout of the Angels on Saturday.

Kim singled in two runs in the first inning, and he added a third RBI on a single an inning later. The 27-year-old will get a chance to win the second base job with Tommy Edman out to begin the year, and while there’s not much power, his ability to hit for average and steal bases makes him a sneaky play to begin 2026.

Teoscar Hernández

LAD Outfield #37

Teoscar Hernández went 3-for-3 and drove in three runs in a rout of the Angels on Saturday.

Amazingly, the Dodgers put up 15 runs without hitting the ball out of the park. Hernández scored 20 percent of those runs while doubling and singling twice. The 33-year-old wasn’t great in 2026 and was the subject of trade rumors, but he’s an excellent bounceback candidate in the loaded Dodgers’ offense in 2026.

Sam Haggerty

TEX Outfield #0

Sam Haggerty went 3-for-3 and knocked in all of the Rangers’ runs Saturday in a 3-2 win over the Cubs.

Haggerty had an RBI single in the second and a two-run double in the fourth before being lifted for a pinch-runner. His chances of claiming a bench spot already improved earlier in the day with the reveal that Cody Freeman would likely open up on the injured list. The switch-hitting utilityman batted .253/.328/.370 in 182 plate appearances for the Rangers last season.

Kumar Rocker

TEX Pitcher #80

Kumar Rocker allowed one run through two innings Saturday in a no-decision against the Cubs.

Rocker is back in the mix for a rotation spot this spring after finishing last year in the minors, but he’s probably something of an underdog at this point. Depending on how he performs and how the rest of the rotation is looking, a move to the pen might be in the offing at some point this year. His stuff seems pretty average as a starter, but he could be a weapon in short relief if the fastball comes up a bit.

Matthew Boyd

CHC Pitcher #16

Matthew Boyd struck out four but allowed five hits and a run in 1 2/3 innings Saturday against the Rangers.

Boyd, who is preparing to pitch in the WBC, had some interesting stuff going on today, as his fastball velocity was down a little from last year but all of his secondary pitches were up by 1.5-2.5 mph. So, instead of last year’s 11-mph difference between his fastball and slider, it was nine today. His changeup difference was down from 14.5 mph to 11.5 mph. Still, best not to ready too much into one outing in February.

Jordan Lawlar

AZ 3rd Baseman #10

Jordan Lawlar hit a solo homer Saturday in a loss to the Rockies in the Cactus League.

Lawlar took Valente Bellozo for his first homer of the spring. The 23-year-old made the move to the outfield this spring, and he’s certainly athletic enough to handle playing in center; the spot he played Saturday against the Rockies. Lawlar has enormous offensive upside, but he’s a tough trust for the 2026 season.

Brenton Doyle

COL Outfield #9

Brenton Doyle went 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles in an 11-6 win Saturday over the Diamondbacks.

Doyle was picked off as his one blemish. The 27-year-old regressed hard in 2025 after a breakout 2024 season, but even if he finds middle ground between the two campaigns, there’s a decent chance he’ll be a competent fantasy option in 2026.
