Suzuki already missed the first two weeks of the season with a PCL sprain in the same knee. Matt Shaw replaced him tonight and would join Michael Conforto in line for additional playing time if Suzuki needs to go back on the IL.

Jose Altuve went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in the eighth as the Astros edged the Royals 9-8 on Saturday.

Altuve joined Christian Walker, Brice Matthews and Jake Meyers in homering for Houston. Altuve is now 5-for-26 with two homers in eight games since coming off the injured list. His .238 average through 50 games is a full 65 points lower than his career mark of .303.

Mike Burrows

HOU Starting Pitcher #50

Mike Burrows allowed five runs — four earned — in five innings Saturday in a no-decision against the Royals.

Burrows gave up five runs for a third straight outing and sixth time overall this season. He seems like the obvious cut from the rotation with Hunter Brown set to return early next week. Though 14 starts, he has a 5.86 ERA and has given up 18 homers in 78 1/3 innings.

Bryan Abreu

HOU Relief Pitcher #52
Bryan Abreu worked a scoreless ninth for his fifth save against the Royals on Saturday.

Josh Hader pitchd both Wednesday and Friday, so the Astros weren’t willing to go to him again tonight. That made Abreu the closer, and he worked around a Bobby Witt Jr. double for the save. Hader should get the ninth if there’s a save situation on Sunday.

Noah Cameron

KC Starting Pitcher #65

Noah Cameron surrendered four runs in 4 1/3 innings Saturday against the Astros.

Cameron didn’t give up a lot of hard contact tonight, but he did allow a pair of homers, both of which immediately followed singles to become two-run shots. Cameron still has a 2.62 ERA and a 32/3 K/BB in 34 1/3 innings over his last six starts. He’ll pitch at home against the Cardinals next week.

Alex Lange

KC Relief Pitcher #56

Alex Lange took a tough loss after giving up an unearned run in 1 2/3 innings Saturday against the Astros.

The go-ahead run scored after Nick Loftin and Jac Caglianone combined to botch the back half of an easy double play. Lange fell to 0-4 on the season, but this won’t be held against him. He’s the current favorite for saves in the Kansas City pen.

Carter Jensen

KC Catcher #22

Carter Jensen doubled twice and drove in three runs against the Astros on Saturday.

All three RBI came on a bases-loaded double to the gap in left-center in the sixth. Jensen is hitting just .208 with three walks in 57 plate appearances out of the leadoff spot, but oddly enough, he has driven in 13 runs in his 12 games there. He totaled 22 RBI in 53 games while batting lower in the order.

J.T. Realmuto

PHI Catcher #10

J.T. Realmuto went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and four RBI to power the Phillies past the Brewers 9-8 on Saturday.

He also picked up his third steal of the year. The homer, his fourth, was a 416-footer off Chad Patrick. Realmuto had just 11 RBI in 47 games this season going into tonight. It’s the 19th time in his career that he’s had four RBI, but just the second time since the start of 2023.

Aaron Nola

PHI Starting Pitcher #27

Aaron Nola departed after allowing three runs in 4 2/3 innings Saturday against the Brewers.

The Phillies busted out with five runs in the top of the sixth, so Nola presumably would have gotten a win if he had completed five tonight. The Brewers, though, pulled him after a homer with one out and a single with two outs in the fifth. It was Nola’s second straight outing in which he was pulled in the fifth inning of an eventual Phillies win. The Phillies have managed to go 8-6 in his starts, but he’s just 3-4 with a 5.86 ERA. He’ll face the Mets next.

Jhoan Duran

PHI Relief Pitcher #59

Jhoan Duran pitched a perfect ninth with a one-run lead for a save Saturday against the Brewers.

José Alvarado and Brad Keller combined to give up five runs in the seventh and eighth, but Duran calmed things down quickly. Despite missing 2 1/2 weeks with an oblique strain in April and May, he’s now tied for second in the majors with 18 saves.
