Nick Martinez accepted a $21.05 million qualifying offer from the Reds.
This was reported over the weekend but is now official. Martinez was solid for the Reds in 2024, posting a 3.10 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 116/18 K/BB ratio across 142 1/3 innings in 42 appearances and 16 starts. It’s a huge pay raise for Martinez and one would assume the Reds will slot him into the rotation now that they’re paying him that much money. With Hunter Greene, Nick Lodolo, and Andrew Abbott all but assured of being in the rotation as well, that leaves only one remaining spot in the Reds rotation.

The Twins said Kendry Rojas, not Simeon Woods Richardson, will start Monday against the Astros.
It’s unclear if Woods Richarson will work behind him of if the Twins might try to get through the game without him. Woods Richardson was lit up by the Marlins last time out, leaving him 0-6 with a 7.71 ERA in nine starts this season.
Rays show off scrappy identity in 30th win of year
Matt Vasgersian, Brian Anderson and Jeff Nelson react to the Rays' 6-3 win over the Marlins, where plenty of movement on the basepaths and gutty pitching performances defined Sunday's clash between in-state rivals.
  • SEA 3rd Baseman #33
Brendan Donovan will receive shots in both his left groin and his adductor muscle after returning to the10-day injured list on Sunday.
It’s going to be more than a 10-day stay. The plan is for him to shut it down for a spell and then return to full activities in two or three weeks. Colt Emerson will serve as the regular third baseman for now, the Mariners confirmed.
  • KC Catcher #13
Salvador Perez went 2-for-2 with a homer, a sac fly and a walk to knock in both Royals runs Sunday in a 2-0 defeat of the Royals.
Perez has been pretty quiet, but that wasn’t the case today, as he hit his seventh homer and drove in multiple runs for the fifth time this year. With his strikeout rate up some and his bat speed trending in the other direction, some decline seems to have set in here. Still, it’d be somewhat surprising if he weren’t a top-12 fantasy catcher the rest of the way.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #32
Stephen Kolek kept the Cardinals scoreless for 6 1/3 innings to win Sunday.
Kolek allowed four hits, walked one and struck out three on his way to combining with Daniel Lynch IV and Lucas Erceg on a shutout. It improved his case for sticking around after Cole Ragans returns, but he’s probably still behind Noah Cameron on the depth chart for now. If the Royals, who have Thursday off, think Ragans will be ready soon, they could send down Kolek for a fresh arm prior to Monday’s game.
  • KC Relief Pitcher #60
Lucas Erceg worked a hitless ninth with a two-run lead for his 11th save Sunday against the Cardinals.
Erceg walked one, but he retired the other three batters, all on hard-hit balls. He’s 11-for-14 saving games with his 3.26 ERA in 20 appearances.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #53
Andre Pallante was a hard-luck loser on Sunday after allowing two runs — one earned — over 6 2/3 innings against the Royals.
With his velocity up some, Pallante struck out seven today. He has 28 strikeouts over his last five starts, which, at least in that department, rates as the best stretch of his career. Prior to this, he totaled 12 strikeouts over his first four starts this season. The loss leaves him 4-4 with a 4.04 ERA. He’ll pitch in Cincinnati next weekend.
  • MIN Catcher #27
Ryan Jeffers went 2-for-3 with a homer, a walk and two runs scored as the Twins held off the Brewers 5-4 on Sunday.
Jeffers was DHing today for the first time since May 1, as the Twins just couldn’t take his bat out of the lineup. He is slugging .600 with his three homers and four doubles during the month of May and is up to .538 overall.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #17
Bailey Ober yielded three runs in five innings Sunday in a victory over the Brewers.
Although he gave up homers to Garrett Mitchell and Christian Yelich and struck out just one batter today, Ober left with a 4-3 lead and was rewarded with his fifth win. Ober generated only three missed swings, all coming on his changeup. His ERA rose to 3.63 ahead of next weekend’s start in Boston.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #40
Luis García recorded his second save despite giving up a run in the ninth Sunday against the Brewers.
García was the only one of five Twins relievers to give up a run today, but he had a two-run cushion, fortunately. He’s allowed 10 runs in 8 2/3 innings in all since joining the Twins late last month. That’s raised his ERA from 7.11 before he was released by the Mets to 9.00 now.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #54
Robert Gasser allowed three runs — two earned — in four innings Sunday in a no-decision against the Twins.
Gasser walked two and plunked three batters, factoring into his early exit. He averaged just 91.3 mph with his fastball, down from 93.0 mph in his six Triple-A starts. The Brewers have Thursday off and are probably getting Brandon Woodruff back after that, so Gasser should return to Triple-A now.
