Groshans was a notable prospect a couple years ago after being selected 12th overall in the 2018 MLB Draft, but he never broke through with the Blue Jays before bouncing around the last three years between the Marlins, Yankees and Athletics. The 25-year-old infielder batted .235/.311/.318 with four homers in 383 plate appearances last year at the Double-A and Triple-A levels. He’ll continue to get opportunities based on his prospect pedigree alone, but he’s done nothing at the plate to suggest that he’s on the verge of becoming an impact fantasy contributor.

After collecting five hits through eight, the Brewers came back to win the game with five singles in the ninth. The first four of those came against Edwin Díaz, while Bauers’ was off lefty Alex Vesia. It was Bauers’ only hit to go along with a walk on the night. He went on to steal second afterwards, making him 9-for-12 on the basepaths this year.

Drohan allowed one run on a leadoff walk and a single in the fifth and then was pulled with a 2-1 lead in the sixth after walking back-to-back batters with one out. Antonio Senzatela replaced him and, after getting Teoscar Hernández to ground out, gave up a three-run pinch-hit homer to Max Muncy to add two runs to Drohan’s total. Drohan will have an easier assignment at home next week against the Mariners, making him a decent option in mixed leagues.

After getting five outs Wednesday, Megill was right back out there to close after the Brewers’ ninth-inning comeback tonight. He should now get Friday off, which could lead to a save chance for Abner Uribe, if he’s feeling up to it.

Sasaki issued five walks, including three in the Brewers’ two-run fourth inning, and gave up 13 hard-hit balls on the night, but he did finish rather strong. This makes five straight starts in which he’s allowed two runs or fewer and gotten at least 16 outs. He’ll look to keep that going in Coors Field against the Rockies next week.

Díaz, who came in with a two-run lead to start the ninth, gave up four straight singles in between a pair of strikeouts. The last hit tied the game, and then Alex Vesia gave up a go-ahead single after taking over. The first two hits against Díaz came on bad fastballs near the heart of the plate, but the third and the fourth were more a case of good hitting by the Brewers. Four singles doesn’t really mean much in the grand scheme of things — it’s better than going down because of walks and homers — but the latest poor showing might get Díaz bumped from the closer’s role for a spell. It’s the fourth time in five appearances this month that he’s been scored upon. Tanner Scott figures to be the main beneficiary if Díaz is thrust into lower leverage situations for now.

The homer off Antonio Senzatela gave the Dodgers a 4-2 lead in the sixth and was his record 131st at Dodger Stadium. Even though the ballpark has been open since 1962, Eric Karros had been the stadium leader at 130.

Ureña’s post All-Star break velocity boost has relaxed just a tad, but he’s remained very difficult to hit. He’s allowed one or no runs in five of six outings, and this is the 10th time in 20 starts this season that he’s given up three hits or fewer. He’ll take an 8-8 record and a 2.67 ERA into Houston for his next start.

Montgomery, who topped out at 91.1 mph tonight, didn’t make much of a case for stepping into the rotation if Jacob deGrom needs a break. He’s surrendered seven runs over six innings in his two appearances since returning from Tommy John.

The hit that knocked in a run was a tapper to the third base side of the mound. Jordan Montgomery was able to handle it, but he then double clutched on the throw and was too late to get Guzman at first. It’s the first time in 63 career games that Guzman has come up with three hits. He’s batting .241/.289/.358 in 175 plate appearances this season.

Trout has raised his average 10 points with six singles the last two nights. It’s the first time since 2018 that he’s had back-to-back three-hit games and the second time ever that he’s had back-to-back games with three singles; the only other time that happened was as a rookie on June 8-9, 2012.
