Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters “all indications” are Justin Martinez (shoulder) will be available on Wednesday against the Rays.

Martinez hasn’t pitched since last Thursday due to shoulder fatigue, but there’s no indication he’ll wind up requiring a trip to the injured list. It would likely be some combination of Shelby Miller, Ryan Thompson and Drey Jameson handling a save chance on Wednesday night if Martinez isn’t able to go.

The Orioles were facing a one-run deficit and down to their final strike in the ninth inning when Cowser obliterated an 0-2 sinker from Kenley Jansen for his 440-foot (111.5 mph EV) game-winning blast that sent the Orioles’ faithful into a frenzy. He finished the afternoon 1-for-2 and is hitting just .200/.284/.289 with two homers and 12 RBI on the season.

Gunnar Henderson went 1-for-3 and swatted a solo home run on Sunday afternoon as the Orioles rallied to beat the Tigers in the first game of their doubleheader.

Henderson victimized Tigers’ starter Framber Valdez for a 368-foot (100.8 mph EV) solo shot on a first-pitch curveball in the sixth inning. That got the Orioles on the board and pulled them to within a run at 2-1. Henderson also walked and struck out twice in the ballgame. For the season, the 24-year-old infielder is slashing a disappointing .230/.282/.438 with 11 homers and 25 RBI.

Brandon Young

BAL Starting Pitcher #63

Brandon Young pitched well in a no-decision against the Tigers on Sunday, surrendering just two unearned runs on five hits over 6 2/3 innings.

Young struck out four batters on the afternoon while issuing a pair of walks. The damage done against him came in the fourth inning as the Tigers scratched out a pair of runs after Pete Alonso botched a potential double play ground ball. He generated eight whiffs on 105 pitches in the contest, posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll try to keep the good times rolling as he brings a 3.47 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and a 26/16 K/BB ratio (36 1/3 innings) into Friday’s tilt against the Blue Jays.

Kenley Jansen

DET Relief Pitcher #74

Kenley Jansen suffered a brutal blown save on Sunday afternoon against the Orioles, serving up a three-run walk-off homer to Colton Cowser.

Jansen was called upon to bail out Kyle Finnegan with two outs in the eighth inning and he was able to get Pete Alonso on a pop out to end the inning. He had trouble in the ninth though, issuing one-out walks to Jackson Holliday and Leody Taveras. He then allowed a pair of stolen bases to put both runners in scoring position for Cowser. Jansen got ahead of him 0-2 before grooving a sinker that Cowser pulverized. Jansen has now converted just seven of his first 11 save chances on the season.

Framber Valdez

DET Starting Pitcher #59

Framber Valdez was terrific in a tough luck no decision on Sunday afternoon, limiting the Orioles to one run on two hits over six strong frames.

Valdez punched out five opposing hitters on the day while allowing two walks. The only blemish on his day came on a solo homer off the bat of Gunnar Henderson in his final inning of work. The 32-year-old southpaw generated 10 swings and misses on 92 pitches in the game, posting a solid CSW of 32 percent. He’ll look to further improve upon his 4.28 ERA and 1.33 WHIP when he does battle against the White Sox in Chicago on Friday.

Esmerlyn Valdez

PIT Right Fielder #55

Esmerlyn Valdez went 1-for-3 and blasted the first home run of his big league career on Sunday, leading the Pirates to a 4-1 victory over the Blue Jays to salvage the finale of their three-game series in Toronto.

After going down on strikes in each of his first two at-bats, the 22-year-old outfielder clobbered an 0-1 sweeper from Chase Lee for a 345-foot (94.3 mph EV) two-run shot in the sixth inning that extended the Pirates’ advantage to 4-1. He’s just 1-for-8 (.125) with five strikeouts in his first three games with the Pirates.

Spencer Horwitz

Spencer Horwitz clubbed a leadoff home run on Sunday afternoon, helping to power the Pirates to victory over the Blue Jays.

Horwitz wasted no time in this one, ambushing a first-pitch changeup from Dylan Cease. He also drew a walk in the contest, finishing the afternoon 1-for-4. On the season, the 28-year-old is now hitting a respectable .274/.381/.438 with five homers and 23 RBI in 176 plate appearances.

Keller allowed just four hits on the afternoon while issuing three free passes. The lone tally against him came on an RBI single off the bat of Ernie Clement in the fourth inning. He generated 11 swings and misses on 101 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 27 percent. Gregory Soto slammed the door on the Blue Jays in the ninth inning on Sunday, protecting a three-run lead to earn his fifth save of the season.

After getting Ernie Clement to start the inning, Soto plunked Andres Gimenez and walked Brandon Valenzuela to put the tying runs on base. He then battled back to get George Springer on a pop out to the shortstop and Daulton Varsho on strikes to end it. Soto now sports a 2.22 ERA and 0.80 WHIP on the season to go along with his five saves in seven opportunities.

Ernie Clement

TOR 2nd Baseman #22

Ernie Clement went 1-for-4 and plated the Blue Jays’ lone run during Sunday’s loss to the Pirates.

Clement got the Jays on the board in the fourth inning with a run-scoring single off of Mitch Keller that plated Vladimir Guerrero Jr. The 30-year-old has been swinging a hot bat as of late and is now slashing .295/.321/.425 with three homers and 18 RBI across 209 plate appearances on the season.
