Miller, 28, will add some depth and versatility to a depleted Rockies’ infield. Through his first 22 games at Triple-A Albuquerque, Miller was hitting .244/.322/.372 with two homers, 13 RBI and a pair of stolen bases. Thairo Estrada was transferred to the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster.

Taylor’s save was his eighth of the season. Things got hairy in the ninth inning when Hagen Smith walked the bases loaded, but Taylor came in to get the final out and pick up the save. He threw two pitches. Taylor has a 2.11 ERA this year.

Lawlar was hit by a 98.5-mph fastball from Daniel Palencia. He was able to walk off on his own afterwards, but he obviously wasn’t staying in the game. Hopefully, this won’t lead to another IL stint for the 24-year-old. Jorge Barrosa replaced him versus the Cubs.

Buxton returned from a hip injury 12 days ago and might aggravated that here while trying to run down Henry Bolte’s shot to the gap in right center. One would think another IL stint here would lead to a Walker Jenkins callup, but we’ll see.

deGrom gave up six hits, walked five and struck out two. He fell to 9-9 with the loss. deGrom allowed the first five batters he faced to reach base and ended up allowing six runs in the first inning. It didn’t get much better from there as he couldn’t make it through the fourth inning without allowing two more runs. deGrom was coming off one of his best starts of the year having allowed just one hit against the Nationals in his last start. He has a 4.21 ERA this year. deGrom is lined up to face the Athletics at home next week.

Alonso collected four hits for the first time as an Oriole and the 10th time in his career. His homer, projected at 435 feet, was a three-run blast off Matthew Liberatore. It was his 31st of the season and 295th of his career. He’s now tied with another Orioles first baseman, Chris Davis (as well as José Ramírez) for 174th place on the all-time list.

Bassitt struck out five and walked none. He averaged a season-high 93.4 mph with his sinker tonight, and his velocity has been above his season average in all three starts since he returned form the IL at the beginning of the month. As long as he keeps throwing like this, he might be of use in mixed leagues the rest of the way.

Liberatore lost a fourth straight start to 5-12 with a 5.44 ERA. Still, his job security has improved due to injuries to Andre Pallante and Hunter Dobbins. He’ll likely face the Pirates on Sunday.

Thanks to Tyler O’Neill’s absence, Encarnacion-Strand and Coby Mayo have both gotten to start the last three games. Things are about to get crowded, though, with Blaze Alexander returning from the IL this weekend. CES has done solid work in hitting .238/.278/.485, particularly with his 25 RBI in 101 plate appearances. Still, he’s likely looking at a reduced role or maybe even a trip back to the minors soon.

His one ball in play was a weak groundout. Basallo is 2-for-19 with an 8/0 K/BB since coming off the IL, though one of his hits was a big pinch-hit two-run homer in a 3-2 win Saturday.

Kay gave up six hits, walked two and struck out four. He entered play Tuesday with a 2.66 ERA in four August starts. Kay wasn’t quite as sharp against the Rangers as even with an 8-1 lead he couldn’t complete the fifth inning. He has a 4.09 ERA this year. Kay is lined up to face the Astros on the road next week.
