  • MIA 3rd Baseman #21

Graham Pauley will start at second base and bat eighth for the Marlins on Wednesday against the Cubs.
Javier Sanoja will be on the bench, and Otto Lopez will shift to shortstop. This is Pauley’s second straight start, and he’s getting a chance to carve out some playing time with Xavier Edwards sidelined. It won’t put Pauley on the fantasy radar, but the added versatility could increase his chances of remaining on the roster when Edwards returns, provided Pauley can start getting some hits.

Mariners optioned OF Curtis Washington Jr. to High-A Everett.
Washington Jr. was called up because he was geographically the closest outfield prospect who could make it in time for the game last night. The 26-year-old will head back to the lower minors, but it was likely a very special day for him.
Impressive depth powering Yankees with Judge out
CC Sabathia believes the Yankees have looked "great" in Aaron Judge's absence, where several players have "stepped up" to help New York cement its spot atop the American League.
  • SEA Right Fielder #9
Mariners recalled INF/OF Connor Joe from Triple-A Tacoma.
Curtis Washington Jr. was with the team for one day just because his High-A club was closest to the Mariners geographically. Joe will now be up for another week or so while Randy Arozarena (hamstring) is on the IL. Joe is hitting just .182/.308/.333 in 39 plate appearances this season.
  • NYY Left Fielder #24
Jasson Dominguez (tooth) is starting in right field and batting fifth against the White Sox on Wednesday.
Dominguez wasn’t in the starting lineup yesterday after having a tooth pulled, but he’ll be right back in there today. The 23-year-old is going to get a long leash with Aaron Judge (ribs), Trent Grisham (oblique), and Giancarlo Stanton (calf) on the injured list for the Yankees. He should be added in most league types if he remains on your waiver wire.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #57
Shane Bieber (elbow) allowed five runs in 5 1/3 innings for Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday.
Bieber’s velocity was good, sitting around 92 mph with his four-seam fastball, but he threw just 48 of his 80 pitches for strikes and walked four hitters while striking out two. His next start could likely come with the Blue Jays, but we’d feel a whole lot more confident if he had good command today.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #60
Twins sent LHP Kendry Rojas on a rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul.
Rojas has been sidelined since May 28th with elbow inflammation. He had looked good in his first 14 1/3 MLB innings this season, posting a 1.26 ERA, but he did have some issues with command. With Mick Abel (elbow) ahead of him in his rehab process, there may not be a rotation spot open for Rojas in Minnesota. Perhaps he will return to his multi-inning role out of the bullpen.
  • SD Relief Pitcher #97
Ron Marinaccio had his suspension reduced to two games after throwing at Gunnar Henderson over the weekend.
He will begin serving that suspension on Wednesday, so the Padres will be down a reliever on Wednesday against the Cardinals and again on Friday against the Rangers.
  • LAD Left Fielder #37
Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts said that Teoscar Hernández (hamstring) is set to take live batting practice on Thursday.
The outfielder has been sidelined since May 28th with a hamstring strain. If his live batting practice goes well, he should begin a short rehab stint next week. That means that Ryan Ward may only have a little more than one week as a starting outfielder for the Dodgers.
  • DET Right Fielder #46
Wenceel Pérez was struck in the face by a plyometric band in the training room after Tuesday’s game
The accident occurred during his typical postgame routine. As of right now, he remains under evaluation, so we’ll know soon if he will require a trip to the injured list.
  • LAD Catcher #16
Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts said Will Smith (neck) is progressing, but he is “unlikely” to come off the injured list on Friday when eligible.
Smith went through a full workout on Tuesday and must have still felt some residual soreness from his neck inflammation. There is no firm timeline for his return, but he didn’t suffer a setback, so he likely won’t remain out for long. Dalton Rushing will continue to handle the majority of the catching reps for the Dodgers.
  • LAA 1st Baseman #34
Angels designated INF Trey Mancini for assignment.
Mancini’s comeback was a feel-good story, and the 34-year-old was 4-for-13 with four RBI in his five games for the Angels, but that wasn’t enough to keep his spot on the team. He could return to the organization if he clears waivers.
