Spencer Arrighetti (thumb) will visit the doctor for a follow-up appointment next week and could be cleared to begin playing catch.
The 25-year-old right-hander has been shelved since early April when he suffered a fractured right thumb after being struck by a line drive. The initial expectation was that he could return in six weeks, but that was six and a half weeks ago and he hasn’t even started throwing the ball yet. Even if he avoids any setbacks, it would be surprising to see him return before the end of June.
