Jacob deGrom delivered another strong performance in Tuesday night’s victory over the Orioles, giving up two runs on five hits over his six innings to record his ninth win of the season.
The 37-year-old right-hander punched out six batters on the evening while allowing just one walk. The only blemish on his night came in the form of a two-out, two-run homer off the bat of Gary Sánchez in the fourth inning. Aside from that, deGrom was in complete command. He generated 12 swings and misses on 92 pitches on the day — half of those on his fastball, which averaged 97.8 mph — while posting a 30 percent CSW. He’ll carry a stellar 2.13 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and a 100/21 K/BB ratio (101 1/3 innings) into Monday’s showdown against the Angels in Los Angeles.
