White Sox selected the contract of OF Dominic Fletcher from Triple-A Charlotte.

Fletcher, who hit .206/.252/.256 in 72 games for the White Sox last season, is up for the first time in 2025. The 28-year-old outfielder hit .260/.317/.453 with mediocre exit velocity numbers in Triple-A. He just doesn’t seem like a major leaguer.

Andruw Monasterio had a two-run homer and a triple Saturday as the Red Sox blanked the Mets 4-0.

Monasterio homered off Freddy Peralta in the fourth to start the scoring. That proved to be sufficient for Boston’s pitching staff, but the Red Sox did get some insurance in the form of another two-run homer from Masataka Yoshida in the eighth. Monasterio’s homer off Peralta was his fifth of the year but his first off of a righty; he was hitting just .195/.213/.253 in 89 plate appearances versus righties coming into the day. The triple was the second of his career and first since 2023.

Eduardo Rivera pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings against the Mets in his spot start Saturday.

Pitching in Worcester, Rivera hadn’t gotten more than seven outs in an outing in over two months, making today’s performance particularly impressive. He nearly got through four innings hitless, but Jorge Polanco singled off him on the 10th pitch of his second at-bat to end his day. Rivera will likely head back to Triple-A now, but he definitely helped his stock.

Freddy Peralta allowed two runs and walked five over 4 1/3 innings Saturday in a loss to the Red Sox.

It’s the third straight outing and sixth overall this year in which Peralta has failed to complete five innings, and he goes into the All-Star break 5-8 with a 4.66 ERA and a 22 percent strikeout rate that is down from 28 percent each of the last two years. Maybe there are suitors out there that think they can turn him around, but he isn’t currently throwing like someone worth a big haul at the trade deadline. He’ll pitch in Philadelphia next weekend.

Francisco Lindor went 0-for-3 with a walk against the Red Sox in Saturday’s loss.

Lindor is 2-for-20 in his last five games and just 10-for-56 with three extra-base hits in 15 games since coming off the injured list. The good news is that Lindor has typically been quite a bit better in the second halves of seasons than in the first halves. Unfortunately, even if the trend holds, it might be too little, too late this year.

Trent Grisham went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer to lead the Yankees to a 4-2 win over the Nationals on Saturday.

Grisham knocked a base hit in the sixth inning, then put the Yankees ahead with a two-run homer off Clayton Beeter in the eighth, putting New York in position to steal the late victory. The 29-year-old outfielder is up to 10 homers, 48 runs scored, and 40 RBI while slashing .238/.338/.426 across 299 plate appearances.

Braxton Ashcraft is being replaced by Foster Griffin on the National League All-Star roster.

Ashcraft was a late addition to the roster on Tuesday, but now he’s not going to pitch after starting today. Griffin has been a great surprise this year in going 10-2 with a 2.77 ERA after signing for just $5.5 million in his return from Japan. Still, this feels like one of those where we’ll be asking in a few years, “how was that guy an All-Star?”

David Bednar struck out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning to convert a save against the Nationals on Saturday.

Bednar took the mound in the bottom of the ninth to close out the game against the Nationals with a two-run lead. He recorded two quick outs, then gave up a base hit to James Wood before inducing a groundout to end the game with his 18th save. Bednar has made 16 consecutive appearances without allowing an earned run, giving him a 2.70 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and a 45/12 K/BB ratio across 40 innings.

Cam Schlittler allowed two runs with six strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Nationals on Saturday.

Schlitter served up a solo homer to James Wood on his first pitch of the game. Two batters later, Curtis Mead took him deep for a second solo blast. Schlittler settled in nicely, giving up just two more hits and walking four as he pitched into the seventh. He struck out six. The 25-year-old right-hander will take a 2.05 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and a 137/25 K/BB ratio across 118 2/3 innings into the All-Star break.

Miles Mikolas tossed four shutout innings in a no-decision against the Yankees on Saturday.

PJ Poulin had served as the opener for the Nationals, recording the first five outs before giving way to Miles Mikolas in the second inning. Mikolas scattered four hits and one walk, pitching into the sixth while keeping the Yankees off the board. His day would be done with two outs in the inning. The 37-year-old right-hander ends the first half with a 5.53 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and a 50/20 K/BB ratio across 94 1/3 innings.
